Hello guys, Please help, we have a Suzuki Vitara 16 Valve, and think the spark plugs need changing, however a 10mm socket will not fit, do we need to try a 8mm or are we doing something wrong and need to try something else? Vicki

no engine stated, and is an engine question.
G16,J20, or H25?
1.6l, 2.0L or v6 ?
my guess, is you removed spark plug wires and put them back out of order, never do that, always change wires 1 by 1.
or the firing order will be wrong, (cops excepted, coil over plug)
how many coil packs do you have.
1
2
4
6?
we cant guess any of that.
You must remove the Coil connector rack and under the coil rack are the individual coils for each spark plug, carefully lift them out, t wist them back and forth to break the rubber boot seal on the top of the spark plugs which are down in well under the coils the valve cover, the ignition coil connector rack is held down by two machine screws, 10mm head I think. You will need a medium 3/8" drive socket wrench extension to get the plugs out and of course a 5/8" spark plug socket and ratchet wrench. Below is a picture of the coil connector rack.
you will require a spark plug chaser, i think it's called, to re-tap the hole or a tap and die set. it's standars procedure when you strip a nut or bolt
you will need
8mm
10mm
5/8 spark plug socket
3/8 ratchet
3/8 extension (it could be 4in and longer)
and spark plugs factory plugs are pregap iridium
spark plug torque is 13.0 lb.ft
coil torque 8.7 lbf.ft
spark plug part # NGK 1zfr5k-11
# DENSO pkj16dr-m11
and spark plug anti seize on spark plug thread
what you need to do is remove the plastic cover 8mm socket or 10mm sockets
now remove the spark plug covers and remove the spark plug coils too 10mm head bolt you will need a 5/8 spark plug socket and a 3/8 ratchet and a 3/8's extension too
you need OEM spark plugs they work the best
hope this will help
Remove the securing bolt for the spark generator--each plug has one--I think it is 10mm-then withdraw the unit and the spark plug is way down there--you may have to remove the cross brace to access No 3 I think it is.
My 2004 Verona had factory installed "NGK BKUR6ETB" regular spark plugs which I replaced at 30,000 miles. The 2005 model year is supposed to have Iridium spark plugs. To replace the spark plugs: 1. Remove plastic top engine cover. 5 nuts 10mm socket. 2. Unplug connector from each ignition coil. qty 6. 3. remove 2 hold down bolts per ignition coil. 10mm socket. 4. remove ignition coil, lifting straight up. 5. Spark plug is now accessible, use deep well 5/8 spark plug socket to remove.
5/8 is that 15mm? We have tried a 10mm but that doesnt fit, it is too big.
