Most of the time it's a bad ignition switch. Remove the upper and lower column covers and find Ignition wiring harness. Find a wiring diagram and check for 12 volts from switch to engine after turning to the runs position, or back probe the ignition power wire to the distributor with a muolti-meter. If voltage drops when releasing ignition from start to run, bad ignition switch. (electrical portion)
