Add 1/2 quart of Dexron VI to the crankcase ant oil change. This will wash the engine out and correct any sticking camshaft advance actuator problems that are dirt related. The ATF will not harm the engine..

Use only the recommended oil, this VERY important in the VTEC engine, so if you have a heavier oil than called for drain it out.

It still sounds like the variable camshaft timing actuator is sticking or defective, that is what VTEC stands for correct.

P1259 HONDA - VTEC System Malfunction
Possible causes- Low engine oil pressure or level
- Open or short circuit condition
- Faulty VTEC oil pressure switch
- Faulty VTEC solenoid
When is the code detected? The P1259 is set when there is a problem in the VTEC Oil Pressure Switch circuit or VTEC Solenoid Valve circuit

SOURCE: 2004 Honda Civic -Code P0122 Throttle Position Sensor Voltage Low

yes, this is the case of a failed throttle body, in which case it needs replaced, the car is getting too much fuel causing the high idle. this needs replaced asap. you could proably find a small independant honda shop that could do the work for less.

SOURCE: 98 Honda Accord LX CODE 1259

Code 1259 indicates a V-tec system malfuntion assuming your Honda isn't a DX? Disconnect the negative battery cable so that you can clear the code. If code returns, try cleaning and/or replacing the V-tec pressure sensor. I heard of someone that had the same 4000 rpm problem you speak of and this is where they solved their problem. Good luck to you.

SOURCE: ihave a 01 honda civic ex and a p1259 code came on

that code is for a Vtech system malfunction. check your oil level if its ok you should bring the car to honda unless you can handle a multimeter and have oil presure gages and the basic knowledge of how to use these items.

2002 crv v tech p1259

1259, ok, (ONLY>?) no others? what engine? I4 or V6....????
some cheap scan tools cant see factor codes, P1 or P2. and are important.
car has immoblizer , right, key IMMO,
key takes to ign. switch. (try the key with only a key and no ring)
***** key test. and other keys.
IMO,
this is accurate, lots of other paces, wild guessing. use this.
http://engine-codes.com/p1259_honda.html

so is the V in Vtech, or VVT varible valve timing.
its an oil pressure error in the VVT parts.
(as alway)
it can be,
1: oil pressure is wrong (wrong oil?)
2: bad valve.
3: bad sensor. (lies)
4: bad wires. (and connctions.)

im crude opinion, the PCM sees wrong oil pressure at a certain
RPM (when switching VVT mode) and sets the DTC.

Fault engine is showing in the meter the number of engine is 1259

If the car is not having any run issue I would definitely check the oil level. The code translates p1259 as VTEC System Malfunction. I would also ask if you have changed the oil recently. Typically running 10/40 rather than 5/30 in these motors can cause this code to be generated.

Code 1259 what does it mean?

the p1259 code in the Honda's is a manufactures specific code for the fuel metering system, also known as the heated O2 sensor. if this is a 4 cylinder it will be the sensors after the catalytic converter, however with either engine DO NOT just start replacing the sensors without having them checked, there is a lot of small things in the system that can cause this code such as a blown fuse, damaged wires, etc. the sensors are expensive so have it checked and verified first.

I have a 2005 honda civic si recently my check engine light came on showing the following codes they are P1259 and P1166

P1259 is a code for vtec malfunction usually cause by a bad vtec solenoid, vtec pressure sensor, low oil level, bad connection. Was oil change done? May want to check the oil level. P1166 is a code for a primary o2 sensor 1.
