Hi i have a 2002 honda civic with a code p 1259 on it will that be the problem why i can,t drive the car it will drive fine at low speed but when i push on the gas to go faster it will **** back and forward and the rpm will stay on 4000rpm and will not go any faster .
P1259 HONDA - VTEC System Malfunction
Possible causes- Low engine oil pressure or level
- Open or short circuit condition
- Faulty VTEC oil pressure switch
- Faulty VTEC solenoid
When is the code detected? The P1259 is set when there is a problem in the VTEC Oil Pressure Switch circuit or VTEC Solenoid Valve circuit

yes, this is the case of a failed throttle body, in which case it needs replaced, the car is getting too much fuel causing the high idle. this needs replaced asap. you could proably find a small independant honda shop that could do the work for less.

Code 1259 indicates a V-tec system malfuntion assuming your Honda isn't a DX? Disconnect the negative battery cable so that you can clear the code. If code returns, try cleaning and/or replacing the V-tec pressure sensor. I heard of someone that had the same 4000 rpm problem you speak of and this is where they solved their problem. Good luck to you.

that code is for a Vtech system malfunction. check your oil level if its ok you should bring the car to honda unless you can handle a multimeter and have oil presure gages and the basic knowledge of how to use these items.

Hi and thank your all for your help i bought a new V.TEC and put ti on and it still on i tell the person to buy a engine fush and neew oil and a fillter so that i can put the new V-tec on fresh but the guy bought 10w30 oil i told him to get 5w20 do you think the differents in the oil mit be the problem i ckeck the fuses and wires look ok ..i even clear the code 5 time still came back..And do anyone know of a good cuirt tester tool the will make it easyer to check for shorts..:)
Add 1/2 quart of Dexron VI to the crankcase ant oil change. This will wash the engine out and correct any sticking camshaft advance actuator problems that are dirt related. The ATF will not harm the engine..
Use only the recommended oil, this VERY important in the VTEC engine, so if you have a heavier oil than called for drain it out.
Thank Dennis Wied you think the will fix the vtec not reading problem i do hear a vavle off some yopu think the mit be the problem too
It still sounds like the variable camshaft timing actuator is sticking or defective, that is what VTEC stands for correct.
is there away to find out if it is defective Dennis or just sticking and do you know what it look like im fix up my friend car for her.
Im thinking of change it if i knew what it look like the car have 200,000 mile on it but run very strong and smooth It just the little problem that all..
I found a new problem that the fans stay on all the time when i pull the clip form the vtec until the fans goes off .do you think that why the v-tec not working right there a short and the code still there po1259.
