Well a week ago when I was driving my car I heard this popping noise, so I pulled over to see if I'd blew a tire but I hadn't. So when I start back to driving my car the brakes lost tension and I had to push the pedal all the way to the floor to make it stop. I took it to a mechanic and he said I just needed brake fluid and it would be okay and it seemed to be fine after that. Well today I was pulling out my driveway and I heard this awful screeching/howling noise and then someone who was outside told me that my wheel wasn't spinning. So I have no idea what's wrong with my car.
Hi,
WHAT wheel(S) are not spinning? Front/Back/Left/Right?
Do you use your parking brake? If so, it may be stuck "ON" even when you release it.
Take it back to the mechanic and have them do a complete brake test. You're probably due for a brake job - brake pads and/or shoes, new rotors and/or drums.

It's the rear right wheel. I do use my parking brake occasionally but I have it pushed down instead of engaged. Is this an expensive problem to fix?
Add a CommentDepends on the problem. A brake job is usually $200+ for the front and $200 for the back brakes. Another thing it could be is the rear wheel bearing, which is probably about the same cost - $200. GL,TD

May be only a check valve. Be sure your man knows ABS stuff. It CAN get tricky....accordianman

Have your power steering belt checked and adjusted, or replaced if worn.

Parking brake is stuck ( possibly ),engauging parking brake a few times which in most cases will not help ( never know when they stick ) and at the back of the drum backing plate towards the axle will be the cable give it a couple good tuggs to release it and do not use it again or replace the cables ( if that is the case), if it will not release and or is free the you may have contamination in the brake lines to the rear right causing the caliper to be stuck open. The bleed the rear brake line best possible solution after that garage.
