The car runs fine for a mile then stalls. It will start again but run rough then stall. Then it won't start for hours.
Very dificult to diagnose without testing.
I might suspect it could be a intake sensor - there are several.
Or might be the ECM or ECU aka main computer..I would sugest taking to a shop and have it plugged in to get the error code(s).
Some times if the ECM or ECU is failing it will not produce a error code.
Hope this helps !
SOURCE: check engine light is on, motor runs rough, sometimes stalls
Go to Advance or Auto Zone and have them run an obd scan on it and it will pin point why your light is on and could solve your problem. This is often done for free.
SOURCE: Car stalls when idling at stop light
have the car checked when the check engine light is on,also a good scanner will be able to give you the history codes, get back to me with the codes and we'll go from there. you need someone with a professional scan tool
SOURCE: wont keep idle, car stalls out
I had this same problem on my 2005 monte carlo, took mechanic a while to figure out it was the idle air control valve. They also replace the idle air control motor.

the problem you are discribing would lead me to belive your fuel filter is clogged which is a simple fix 3 dollar part at any part store or on the worse hand your fuel pump itself could be weak you can open the gas tank cover and have another person turn the truck key to the on position without going far enough to start you will hear a faint whining noise if it is going bad or a louder noise if it is fine Good Luck
