Recently I purchased a 1995 sentra, and when we test drove it, the speedometer worked fine. However when we purchased it and drove it home, the speedometer didn't work. It stayed at 0 mph. How can I fix it?

If the speedo and odometer are both dead, you should have shifting problems and a check engine light. The speed sensor in the transmission has probably died.
If the speedo does not work but the odometer does, chances are the problem is in the speedometer head.
Get the VSS checked. The most common problems is the vehicle speed signal sensor, as a result of which the speedometer stops working. If you notice problems in gear transmission or find the 'check engine' light on, it is because of a faulty speed signal sensor.Get it checked.
I have a Trooper of the same year and have the same problem. I think it's the speed senser that's on the left rear side of the Transfer case (4x4) model. It is very expensive. I hadn't replace mine yet.
