The power steering reservoir has a dipstick attached to the cap you take off to fill the reservoir, it is written on the dipstick what level is normal. Low fluid will not cause any play in the steering worn parts like tie rod ends and worn steering gear boxes will.

SOURCE: Checking the power steering fluid levels

the power steering resevoir is underneathe the altenatror or your vehicle. you have a gm 3800 series II engine the resevoir is located near the fire wall on the passengerside right under the altenator. the easiest way to check this is to remove the altenator. I say this because there is not much room to put your hands in that area because your coolant overflow tank is there as well. disconnect the ground to the battery first. then disconnect the power lead to altenator. remove serpentine belt. then remove the plug from the altenator. remove the bolts to the altenator and move the altenator aside there you will see the resevoir for the power steering. installation is in reverse order... please rate this......thanks

SOURCE: lost owner manual for 92 Buick Regal custom-power steering fluid

The reservoir should be located under the hood on the passenger side, above serpentine belt. Guide your eyes backwards towards the mid section of the engine on the passenger side. the small reservoir will have a small turn cap on top. (passenger side off vehicle)

SOURCE: Where is the Power steering Fluid located?

This is what it looks like:

b0cbdd2.jpg
THERE IS NO CAP TO FILL IT LIKE NORMAL POWER STEERING SYSTEMS. IT HAS TO BE SERVICED FROM THE INLET HOSE.

  1. Fill pump with hydraulic fluid through intake line. Turn the pulley/shaft by hand until fluid comes out of pressure port.
Look underneath the car up at the driver's side of the car above your tie rods (or look at it from above). It is mounted to your steering gear.

Power steering fluid where is it located, to put fluid in?

You probably have a V-8 engine, which on most GM products means that, as you're looking at the engine from the front of the vehicle, the power steering pump/reservoir would be to your right. It should have a cap that looks something like this:4010-07017180-1061739.jpg

If the dipstick (which is part of the cap) reads low, add power steering slowly until the level is correct. Then start the engine ad check the level again.

Vehical makes noise from the power steering, but

Try to bleed all air from the power steering system:raise the front of the vehicle off the ground just until the tires are off the ground, start the engine, make sure the fluid is at the proper level, while engine is idleing turn the steering wheel from lock to lock in both directions( do not hold at full lock for more than a second) repeatedly,at a average turning speed back and forth about 10 to 15 times, shut engine off, lower vehicle, check fluid level once again, take out for test drive for at least 10 to 15 minutes,if noise is still present then it's time to replace the power steering pump.Good luck!
