try you map sensor or your throtle pos sens. your fuel pump is designed to run all the time. it is suppose to run through the fuel rail and back to the tank in a constant cycle.

not all scanners a created equal. You need to check for trouble codes...............but it must be fixec by now.

Either your anti-theft unit is on, or your computer is faulty.
If anti-theft is on, leave key in ON position for exactly 10 minutes, then start car.

A failing crank sensor sometimes won't set a code, but it will not prevent the check engine light from coming on.
I'd test it with an ohmeter both hot and cold just to make sure it's good, but think your problem is likely to be a connection between the ignition switch and the computer or a security system fault (if you have one). I'm not absolutely positive, but I believe that both years on that sensor are interchangable. It is also possible that some time in the past, the engine or flywheel was replaced and required the sensor to be changed along with that repair. If the vehicle was running fine before this problem arose then likely, whatever parts were installed were just fine.
In disconnecting and re-connecting the battery it can cause a small electrical arc that will temporarily "weld" a bad connection back together till vibration or temperature change causes the connection to come apart again. That can happen in the harness connections or even on the computer internal board. Neither are easy to find and you will need to check continuity of any and all power wires going into the computer (grounds too) in order
to locate the problem.
Chilton has good wiring diagrams and I'd definitely be using that manual as a guide. If I can find a decent diagram for your vehicle, I'll send it later, but I'm not sure I have one.
Good luck and be patient!

It sounds like a shorted class2 data line to me. Is the scanner giving you U-codes? (U1000, U1042, etc.) If you are getting U-codes that is your problem.
