When the engine is first started the Oil pressure guage 'Red lines' on the high end. As the engine warms up and the oil begins to thin the pressure goes down to about 30. After about 45 minutes of driving as I'm sitting and idling, it reads 0, and the Check Guages light comes on. It will basically stay there or just barely come out of the 0 mark. It only reads high (Normal) at the start.
Hi! The problem you are outlining is very similar to the Rover V8 (Buick engine). We Brit's are used to the low oil pressure when warm. I presume a complete oil change engine flushed with new replacement filter has been carried out? Maybe a top quality synthetic oil with additive may help. You may take it a little further and replace the oil pump with an after market performance up rated one. If you really are worried about low oil pressure damage whilst in low rev's try Molybnenum Disulphide an oil additive which really reduces friction metal to metal wear particulary in the situation you are describing.
That's the best I can suggest at this moment.
Good Luck! and Happy New Year!

AHA!
Again a problem I've suffered, Small Block in a G20 Chevrolet WinneBago Sundancer Motorhome. I converted it to run on Lpg and on our 1st outing I nearly had a heart attack, when I started it to leave the campsite Nil oil pressure I immeadiatly shut off the engine. I took the engine cover off and loosened the Oil pressure sensor (Bell Shaped) started it again and oil spewed out so I knew the oil pump was working.
When I returned home I purchased a Manual oil pressure Gauge (Capilliary tubed) fitted it without a problem and Bingo correct oil pressure at all temperatures.(WinneBago is no longer in our possesion)
Loks like you may have solved this one yourself, WELL DONE!

Just for giggles I located the Oil Pressure sensor (Switch) just to see where it was, and I found it to be very wet with Oil. Maybe this is a clue. Could it be leaking from there or loose?
intermittent check engine light. codes say misfire and fuel guage. noticing once in a while the fuel guage goes all the way down and the low fuel light comes on. after a few minutes it goes back to normal. today i noticed the oil pressure is higher than normal and voltage guage reading higher than normal. also the tow haul working intermittently. could this be a ground issue? or a cluster issue?
Ive got a 98 Silverado 350 with 109k miles. My truck is doing the same thing. p304 code and low oil light coming on when at idle. I replaced fuel pump, plugs, wires, cap and rotor all in the last six months. Still have the hesitation and poor fuel economy. I'm not sure where else to look.......
oil pressure goes up, oil filter blows and engine knocks
