Hello,I have a 2004 Chrysler Sebring Sedan with 71,000 miles on it. The oil pressure light comes on at times. When I am stopped at a traffic light in gear with my foot on the brake, the car will jump and lose rpm, stall and then it cuts off. That’s when the oil pressure light comes on. I start the car back up and the oil pressure light is gone and it runs for a while until a couple traffic lights later and repeats the process. The car also cuts off and the oil pressure light comes on when I start the engine and put it in reverse and try to back up. Other than that I don’t have any other problems, smell anything or hear any noises at all. Runs smooth.
I just bought this car from a used dealer and it supposedly passed an inspection. I also got an oil change (they didn’t notice any leaks) but the problem continues. What could be causing this? What should I do….am I looking at a serious problem. Thanks much! Any help is appreciated :)
The oil light should come on when the car stalls, this is normal. The stalling isn't, do u have a warranty thru the dealer u purchased it from? Most have at least a 30 day warranty. A 2004 should have included some type of warranty. U should bring it back, and they should correct the problem at no charge if u recently purchased it, and there is some sort of guarantee. Let me know if there is.
