96 Jeep Cherokee Sport Hard Starting

My 1996 jeep Cherokee sport has a hard time starting unless u push down the gas pedal. Me and my dad have been having trouble with it since we bought it, the check engine light is on, but not for long, it monentarily comes on and then shuts off for a few days. and when it is on the jeep is hard trouble starting. we origionally thought it was the TPS, but it turned out that wasnt the problem. Autozone said it may be the Temp. Sensor. any thoughts?

The Engine coolant temp sensor would ABSOLUTELY cause a hard start, but don't guess get the codes check again at Auto_Zone to make sure. Another cause of that kind of hard start is a dirty throttle body/ intake manifold. Use INTAKE cleaner and a rag clean the intake esp[eciall in the throttle body area. Good Luck

I am trying to install a new clutch in my 96 jeep cherokee it is a sealed unit I have it in but it wont go into gear how do I blead it or does it need to be blead???

I would start by topping off the clutch fluid. If you have replaced clutch the fluid level will drop. There is a bleeder screw at the slave cylinder.Basically you can pump the pedal and hold it down while someone opens the bleeder.Close the bleeder when pressure is released and then release pedal and repeat procedure.Good Luck!

Park jeep overnight and now it won't start, changed fuel filter and relay checked fuel pump which worked fine, the problem is that it will crank over but that's it, you don't hear the fuel pump kick on,...

sometimes the neutral safety switch goes out and thus it doesn't start... I had that go out in my 96 jeep cherokee sport 4x4... changed the fuel pump out and then found out... I had it changed so I don't know how to do that part.... anyway hope that helps

1996 Jeep Cherokee Sport bogs down

I just posted a simular resonse in another post. What is sounds like it that the fuel pump is starting to go bad. When it heats up after use the pressure drops not pusing the full amount of fuel. Whenits cold it works fine until it heats back up 10-20 mins. remember fuel in the tank helps cool the pump so keep it soewhat full but sounds like the damage is done. your probally gonna have to replace it.
