Why is it having trouble moving in reverse?

Buy a new tank cap. Fill ur tank slower. Inspect the fill hose for akink or damage. And looknst the overflow vent line. Fuel caps keep air out they do need replacing once and a while. Ur take vents at the cap sounds like ur cap is not venting or ur return over flow line has issues try a new cap first. Then go deeper if issue still there chk the top of the tank where the gauge sending unit is. Etc etc.

Is anti-freeze bubbling over into the overflow? If so your thermostat is not opening.

Make sure your coolant system is filled to capacity. Make sure there isn't air trapped in the system. If so you may see hose collapse. Burp the system by starting the car and running it with the radiator cap off while topping it off with anti-freeze. If there is air trapped you will see bubbles surface up with the cap off.

Check the water pump. Squeeze the hoses and feel for pressure. If the pump is working the hoses will feel full.

i suspect it is not a vacuum hose leak as that would give you poorer brakes and shouldn't slow down the engine..why do you think its a vacuum hose leak

If gauge still shows empty and light is on then inside tank there is a arm thats prob just stuck remove lower rear seat and will see entry to tank gauge has about 3 to 4 screws open and check if arm is down or floating .

The information below was complied by me, it explains what causes the check engine light to come on and the process of finding the cause.

When the Check Engine light (or Service Engine Soon) is turned on, the systems computer control unit (called the PCM) has sensed a fault in the electronic controls of the engine and/or the emission system. When this happens you will seldom feel the car engine run any different. There are about 200 possible system faults (the gas cap is just one of them) that turn the Check Engine light on, to know what has developed a problem you must have the system tested, this is called an OBD2 fault code test, Kragen/Oriley and Autozone parts stores (USA only) do this testing for free.

Is there a CHECK ENGINE light on? If so, find out what DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) was stored in the engine computer (ECU). If not, have the vehicle checked out/inspected by a qualified Hyundai Service Technician. This way you'll find out exactly what the problem is and what it will take to FIX IT.

tightening your gas cap can sometimes fix this problem. Think if the light came on after buying gas.
If not it's usually the rubber seal around the gas cap. Just measure and replace with a similar rubber seal available at any hardware/auto parts store.

Take the car to Autozone or purchase a scanner and scan it for codes. Then do the repair and use the scanner or return to Autozone and have them turn off the light.

Can be many things...look at the air filter...if dirty replace it.
Dump in the gas tank a bottle of stuff to get water out...has methonal in it...in case water has condensed in the tank. When starting you might want to not stomp the gas pedal to the floor but rather push it to the floor and hold it there before and during cranking to start it....if the engine is flooding that should allow it to start but you may need to crank it 30 seconds before it catches. You can also have a weak fuel pump if it has never been changed.
