Nissan will not go forward, only moves in reverse.

My son has a 91 maxima, and recently it mostly stopped running. It will move forward but barely, as long as I do not step on the gas. But the car will run in reverse. Is this a bad transmission. or something easier to fix?

2003 nissan maxima has no reverse

It could be as simple as a shift solenoid but you need to have the transmission checked. It can be diagnosed for about 90 bucks and well worth finding it now then later.

Car will start, runs perfectly, but when shifted into drive or reverse, it takes almost 6-8000 RPM to get it to barely move.

your transmission is either out of fluid or is damaged beyond functionality-sounds real bad, if it takes reving the car over 6 grand to move it, you need a trans.

Car will start but will not move forward or backwards can u help?

Mke sure that the transmission is working. you can tell if the engine rpm changes when you put it gear (forward or reverse) if it does not then you need to check the level of the transmission fluid for an automatic or you may have clutch problems if it is a manual transmission. if you have more details on the transmission type (auto or manual) and if it is doing anything when you try to get it to move that would be helpful.

What engine? Rear wheel drive ?Sounds like shift linkage or cable out of adjustment slightly. Have a look at where cable or rod attaches to transmission for adjustment. If not sure of what your looking for get back to me with info.

1996 nissan no reverse or neutral

Unfortunately the only thing to do in this case is to open the gearbox and see the real status of the cylinders, it's very possible the cylinders do not make contact anymore.
