Checkengine light is on,very slow off the line, not shifting right

I have a 1998 lexus gs400 that is very clean and taken care of like a baby(only 84,000),but I do have a K&N FIPK. air intake and a pair of borla can's for some growl. my check engine light is on and I do know that the K&N will trip my mass iar flow sensor, but I feel that my transmission is not shifting the correct way. It is very slow in 1st gear. and there is another problem...When you shift or switch the manual/tiptronic mode it just flashes''M''. If there is anyone out there please help me solve this problem. Thank you,Matty

Hello friend, I fnnally got my car fixed and I also found what the problem was. the place was called the toyhouse in tampa Fl. The mechanic found that my shift selonoid#3(code-p0763) it was stuck and gunked up. What he did was put the selonoid in a bubbler bath of kerosene and it cleaned. Now he used the term "the bubbler". It is a device that cleans out gummed up parts. As I understand he removed the tranny pan. That will you to lose transmission fluid, but you must refill the 4 quarts or so ..Make sure that your mechanic uses a tranny. fluid conditioner when he refills your pan- (BG is a good product for that),but $350 installed is not bad; and tell him that you want the old part if he replaces it or ask him if he can clean it before he replaces it. I know that it can be done if it is gummed up. It could save you $100 bucks. Good luck,Matty

I have the exact same problem. Does it hesitate of the start and then take off? I put an OBD II scanner on mine and it is saying that it is the 1st gear shift cellinoid. Cost's about $350 installed.

1998 Lexus GS400. Key stuck in ignition after reading obd2 codes

Hi,
Do you have the Owner's Manual? If so, look in it for the way to deactivate the Alarm when the battery has been disconnected. This is only for the FACTORY Lexus alarm. If yours is non-factory you'll need to 'google' the alarm brand and 'how to turn off'.
