Do your interior lights come on when you open the driver's door? If not, the driver's door jamb switch probably got knocked loose (usually if the seat belt buckle catches it when closing the door)

More often than not, you can remove the switch and reconnect the two pieces back together and it'll work fine without needing to replace the switch.

Use an 8mm socket to loosen the retaining screw (it has phillips slots too, but it's usually too tight to use a screwdriver without buggering it up.

When I start the car there is a 15 second warning sound which is replicated just after the engine is turned off and the key removed. It drives fine and no warning lights appear.

There are several thing that cause the warning sound. Try cycling the headlight switch often the sound indicator id the headlight warning sound that the lights are left on. You can also call the dealership and see if there has been a recall for this problem.

Why won't my My 98 or 99 (sic)Ford Escort chime to indicate I left my lights on?

The warning chime sounds if the parking lamps (13200) or the headlamps (13008) are left on after the key has been removed from the ignition switch lock cylinder and either front door (20124) is opened. There is a chime module that controls this .
The safety belt warning chime (10D840) (also called the central processing unit or CPU) is an audible warning system and timing circuit. The system components include:
  • Timing circuit safety belt switch.
  • Dome lamp switches.
  • Safety belt warning indicator switch which is an integral part of the front safety belt buckle end (61203).
  • Ignition switch (11572).
  • Headlamp switch.
The warning chime sounds and the safety belt warning indicator illuminates when the ignition switch is placed in the ON position and the LH front safety belt is not buckled.
Key In Ignition Warning
The warning sounds if the key is left in the ignition switch lock cylinder when either door is opened and the ignition switch is in the LOCK or OFF position.
Don't any of chimes work ?
  • The Headlamp on Reminder Chime Is Inoperative/Does Not Operate Properly
  • Circuits.
  • Fuse junction panel.
  • Warning chime module.
  • GO to Pinpoint Test D .
Let me know ,mite work this out !
Don't

7 dings and a beep when starting 2000 ford explorer? what does that mean

NOTE: The generic electronic module/central timer module (GEM/CTM) is connected to the ISO link and is diagnosed through the data link connector (DLC) with a scan tool.
There are five warning chimes and lamps the GEM/CTM controls: headlamps operating without the ignition on (chime only), door ajar (chime and lamp), key-in-ignition (chime only), driver seat belt warning (chime and lamp), and message center.

Audible Warnings Warning Condition Lamp Duration Audible Duration Audible Output Safety Belt 60 Seconds 6 Seconds Chime, 60/Min. 740 Hz Key In Ignition - Continuous Chime, 120/Min. 740 Hz Headlamps On - Continuous Chime, 240/Min. 740 Hz Door Ajar Continuous 1 Second Single Tone, 1000 Hz Message Center (Tone Request) - 1 Second Single Tone, 1000 Hz
When the is turned to RUN or START from OFF or ACC, the chime will sound for six seconds or until the safety belt is buckled.
The will turn on for 60 seconds or until the driver safety belt is fastened. Both the chime and the lamp turn on at the same time.
If the safety belt is buckled before the ignition switch is turned to RUN or START, from OFF or ACC, neither the chime nor lamp will be activated.
Anytime the is changed to RUN from START while the safety belt warning indicator is activated, the safety belt warning indicator will remain activated until either the timing sequence has been executed or the safety belt is buckled.
When at least one door is ajar and the key is in the RUN position, the door ajar cluster lamp is activated and remains on until all doors are closed. A warning tone will sound once any time the key is in the ignition switch and any door is open.
The key-in-ignition warning will sound when the driver side is opened with the key in the and the in OFF or ACC. It will continue to sound until the key is removed, the is closed, or the is in RUN or START.
The headlamp-on reminder chime will be activated if the headlamps or parking lamps are on, the key is not in the ignition switch, and the driver door is opened.
A single tone will be provided each time a ground signal is received from the message center. A one-second tone will sound for warning indications from the message center. A 100 milli-second tone will sound for each message center button depressed.

Red warning light is staying on when I switch on and drive my 2001 Grand Vitara dashboard (!) - what do i do?

all the above.

i cant see lamp, why not use photos so we dont need to guess, 1000 warning lamps used.

varies by country too. what lamp logos look like.

what it is , who knows? right, lacking a photo.

the key switch tells the warning box when you remove the key.

that buzz left in is the warning, take key out now.

seem the key inserted switch is stuck but id have to see lamp.

so yes that is switch not a sensor, (but sure one could call a switch a sensor.) and sure wires can fail. and connectors.

sure its electric, is sure is not vacuum.

the warning box can worn head lights left on

or exiting car key left in ignition.

do not fool with the key switch on air bag cars or risk death or broken neck with AIR BAGS.

read the manual, see the 1000 warning there.

and the words, DEFEAT the bags using X procedures first.

do so.

Villager 2002 driver side headlights are sporadic

Normally the head lamp relays are placed within the dash and as close as possible to the headdlights as the high ampere required means that the wires must also be of short length to reduce loss or it might need large core wires.
So check the main relay box here within the engine room and use a multimeter to see if the cluster switch triggeres the relay.

"Check Oil" warning light comes on at randum

Probably nothing whatsoever to do with you checking the dipstick. On the golf when the warning light flashes, you reset it by opening the bonnet. That is why you think that when you check the dipstick it resets, when in fact it was opening the bonnet. Check your bonnet switch

Possible ignition switch problem? 99 Explorer

key chime sounds if the little tab is grounded where the key contacts it. The theft light is supposed to blink when the system is armed to let you know it is armed. That's normal.

What do you mean by auto door locks won't unlock? The remote doesn't work? the door lock/unlock button on the door trim panel? Do they lock ok? Or, just unlock doesn't work?
