First you need to check whether you can legally remove the airbag where you are - in many parts of the world this isn't allowed.
It will need the software of the operating system rewriting in order to delete an airbag - otherwise to stop the airbag light coming on you need to fool the system into believing the airbag is there and ok and that will mean connecting something in place of the airbag that is electrically identical to the airbag.
What that something is I don't know and you could easily fire the airbag attempting to find out...
You can unhook your battery for 15min. which should reset your airbag light. If it keeps coming on it is very possible it is the airbag clock spring which is located in the steering column causing the airbag light to come on. These are known to go out and cause the light to come on. The steering wheel has to be removed with a steering wheel puller to replace this part. This repair should be performed by a qualified mechanic. I had the same problem with my 05 Grand Caravan and the clock spring fixed the problem.
Usually if you pull the fuse the light will come on because the system is disabled. You may need to get the airbag module checked out. Its fairly touchy stuff, you have to be careful not to blow the airbag by mistake when you are working on the system.
{: ) It is possible, but not always the case. An airbag light on your instrument cluster may mean several things. Usually under normal conditions, an airbag light on warns the driver that the airbag system has detected a fault somewhere in the airbag circuits and need to be checked or fixed, otherwise the airbag protection system may not work properly in the event of collision. It can be wiring or component malfunctions.
Sometimes it can be a deployed component like the seat belt retractors or an SDM, which you may not notice. Your vehicle needs to be checked by a diagnostic scan tool for trouble codes. This way, you can easily determine the status of your airbag system.
If your vehicle did have an impact before that you're not aware of, and no attempts were made to have it repaired despite previous airbag light warnings, well, you can always expect the airbag light to come on.
Airbag systems should never be worked on by consumers who are not professionals with the Airbag system. You will need to take the vehicle in to the dealership to have the Airbag system professionally serviced, and to avoid problems with your insurance company. Airbag systems are very delicate, and consists of crash sensors in various points on the vehicle, as well as a system of wires, and an Airbag computer module. Usually the Airbag light comes on if the system has been activated, or become faulty. Once again, never work on the Airbag system yourself, take it to the dealership to have it serviced.
its unfortunate but u are not able to.
Your vehicle has multiple computers controlling all the electrics.
When a warning light comes on such as your airbag light or an engine light it is usually because of a fault.
if there is a fault and you ignore it and just cancel the light, then in an accident the airbag might not deploy. which would not be a good end result.
i would take it to a mechanic who has a scan tool to find the code that is causing your airbag light to come on, then fix the issue.
this will solve your airbag light problem and keep you safe on the roads as well.
when this light comes on it is a warning that the airbag diagnsotic montior has sensed a problem in the airbag systems electrical components, the source of the problem is stored as a fault code and can be retrieved with a factory scan tools. Whenever this light is on the airbag system is disabled
Hello, The airbag light comes on whenever there is any problem with the safety restraint systems.
This means that while the light is on the AirBag WILL NOT deploy. It could be several things....Electrical short in the Steering wheel (supplies power to Airbag), Seat belt locks (if the computer thinks the seatbelt is not in use it won't deploy the airbag), these are the most likely problems, But it could be bad or loose wiring under the dash (aftermarket Stereo?), or Impact sensors, or the Body control module. Any other lights? When does it come on / go off? Random or predictible pattern? Goods news is the car does not need an airbag to drive ... Good luck , hope that helped..
