I blew out the #3 spark plug on a 97 ford expidition with the 5.4 motor. I took it to a shop and they tapped it and put in a plug, it would not seal and the plug hit the clyinder they pulled the plug and said the hole was damaged before they did the job. they also dropped the zerk into the clyinder. is there any way to fix it or does it need a new head or motor

They were too deep when they tapped the hole. There is a system made to retap the plug hole as this is a comment problem on these engines.if done properly with proper tool there should not be a problem. Sounds like at a minimum you need to pull the head. Did you take it to a Ford shop? If you did ford might fix it as I said. Common problem!

That shop is responsible for any damage outside of the fix. If the plug hit the piston severe damage may have resulted. Use a magnet to try to remove the broken zerk. Make sure you are using the correct plug.

SOURCE: 1999 Ford Explorer Oil Leak

You most likely hit a curb, the pan is cast aluminum and will break like glass if you hit a curb, the pan can be changed without removing the engine, it is very time consuming, but it can be done.

SOURCE: WHAT'S LEAKING? Is it the valve stem seals or piston rings???

Hi,
If it is the valve seals, you can replace the head, but it would be cheaper to replace the seals,If you pull the head, you can do a leak down test on the pistons to check the rings as well.

97 ford expedition 5.4 motor blew out spark plug and Agee it was repaired it smokes while at idle with an oil smell

I don't think I've ever seen that happen. But if there was enough pressure or explosion to blow out a spark plug, assuming it was tight. then there is probably internal damage, perhaps to the rings. Have a compression test done on that cylinder and check the spark plug for oil fouling.

97 mustang overheating and blowing cold air

Get a compression check to find out if you have a bad head gasket, I have a 96 with the 3.8L that had the same problems at first. then it started to blow out antifreeze thru the expansion tank, the head gasket finally blew the rest of the way going down the highway

Spark plug blew out ,deff stripped think #6 back left 2nd from top

Ford had trouble with spark plugs blowing out on some of their motors. It happened most often on v-10 triton motors though. Ford and some aftermarket companies make a kit to repair this without removing the head. I believe it comes with drill bits, a tap and a helicoil. A call to the ford dealer or a google search for a kit should get you what you need.

Lost engine oil: 2002 Ford F150 Supercrew 4x4 5.4l engine

This is certainly one of the strangest things I have ever heard as a mechanic. . This almost sounds like some one is playing a game of letting your oil out this vehicle. With no visible leaks no burning smell of oil. However I would recommend that you check the coolant in the radiator and see if the oil is in the coolant. (If they are mixing together) If they are mixing the coolant should have a milky look to it, creamish white. If its good then the only other logical explanation is that the vehicle i s burning alot of oil, but if that was true you would see a grayish blue smoke from tail pipe. If you are 100% sure they are no oil leaks on this vehicle, then this problem is surely strange. Check coolant and get back to me. Good Luck
