The oil pressure light comes on in my 2004 Chrysler Sebring

My oil pressure light will come on after the car has warmed up but only when the rpm is less than 1000, when it isidle, or sitting still. Sometimes it just flickers but sometimes it stays solid. Also, recently there has been a ticking/grinding noise when I start the car, but only lasts a few seconds. Today I started it and it did the grinding thing but it also began to tick as I drove it. I drove around a while and then came home and let it rest a little. When I got back in it it did the grind thing a little but didn't tick as I drove. Does this sound like a problem with the lifters or maybe the oil sender?

SOURCE: Oil light comes on and "bings" when the tack shows 1000 rpm.

I have no idea how many miles are on the van but 1st lets talk about the oil lite, it is telling u that the engine has less than 10 PSI of oil pressure, this may be the pressure sending unit on the engine is defective, if it does have low oil pressure then severe damage to the engine bearings can result, the click is most likely the contacts in the starter solenoid are burnt, they act up more cold and give the click you hear. I have no idea about the steering issue, without hearing it is almost imposs to diagnose such concerns. In closing I highly recommned that you address the low oil pressure concern ASAP

Could be a bad oil pressure switch, or a bad oil pump. Both will cause this issue. Hope it is the switch b/c the oil pump is a costly repair.

1999 chrysler sebring low oil pressure at idle

It may be the oil pump. If the gauge is going up when the rpms increase it's probably not the gauge or pressure switch. If the computer senses the oil pressure is low it will shut the vehicle off to try to save it's self from catastrophic failure. Also it may start cranking longer before starting. Thats it building oil pressure before the computer will let it start. Make sure oil is full, clean & thick.

I have a 2004 Chrysler Sebring, the timing belt broke, had it replaced, when i got the car back th oil light was on and would go off for a few seconds then come back on, and now it stays on all the time....

Sounds like bad oil pressure switch. Is the engine making any loud noise(s)? I'd replace oil pressure switch and/or check connection at oil pressure switch.

Oil lamp lights at 750rpms

750 rpm?

your revs are too low.

The engine speed drives the oil pump via the timing belt.

too low revs = poor pump speed = low pressure.

I'll bet when you rev the idle speed faster, the warning goes off?

2004 chrysler sebring idle speed is too slow. HOw

why do you want your rpms higher while idling? you don't want them high because your gas bill will reflect that. slow shouldn't matter but if it's dying while on idle it could either be your mass air flow sensor or your fuel filter being clogged

Oil Pressure light comes on....

The oil light should come on when the car stalls, this is normal. The stalling isn't, do u have a warranty thru the dealer u purchased it from? Most have at least a 30 day warranty. A 2004 should have included some type of warranty. U should bring it back, and they should correct the problem at no charge if u recently purchased it, and there is some sort of guarantee. Let me know if there is.

Oil light??

I was lucky on mine. It was just a bad oil sender switch that needed to replaced, plus the cable connector up-grade. Oil was leaking past the switch. Oil pressure was measured at full spec, both at idel and running.
