How to put belts on a 2000 Dodge Intrepid, 2 front belts have worn out.

Could be anything from a separating tire tread to worn steering linkages or a worn front bearing. For the sake of safety, I would recommend taking the vehicle to a front suspension shop, or a general purpose repair garage, for diagnosis of the issue. If you continue driving the vehicle with the issue you describe, you run the risk of losing control of the vehicle and having a potentially fatal accident... so PLEASE have the issue diagnosed as soon as you are able!

My info says you have a timing chain. You do have a drive belt for accessories.

sounds like the ac compressor may be locked up when defroster is turned on..there is a disconnect by the ac ompressor pulley that can be unplugged and the belt should turn free..defrost will work but need to check the compressor before its needed in summer..replace if needed..

Sounds like it could be the belt tensioner.These tensioners wear out over time i've had to replace a few of them.

These usually have timing belts, if the water pump isn't making nose, leaking or dragging, put it back on. If it does have a timing chain in it, put new timing gears and guides in it as well, easier to do while you already have it apart. Check your power steering pump to make sure it is not leaking or the bearing isn't dragging, if so replace. Replace the thermostat while you have it apart. Check all hoses and belts to see if they need to be replaced while your at it, you will have most of them off anyway. Definitely check the serpentine belt that runs everything on the front of the motor, if it is cracked or worn, replace. Better to do it now rather than along the side of the road. It should be posted on the hood or the the front of the engine comp. If not in the manual.

If it is a 3.5 it is located on the front of the engine on the drivers side under the plenum.
