SOURCE: Rough idle only when in gear.

The Air Idle Control Valve (IAC) may be bad or dirty with carbon build up. Check for loose wire, remove and try to spraying it with throttle body cleaner to clean the carbon out and dry it with a hair dryer before installing.
The other thing to look for to is stuck EGR valve. same process as the (IAC) as to cleaning it too. If both are beyond cleaning then replace it.
You can go to Auto Zone and have the car scanned for any DTC codes which would indicate any problems with the (IAC) and EGR's performance.
The other thing to that would make the engine shake at low RPM's is bad spark plug and wire or low engine compression, but that would give you problems through out the whole engine's performance.
Good luck and hope this helps, Start with the (IAC) and EGR as to cleaning and scanning the engine.

What engine? You need to have it scanned for codes. Autozone will do this for free

SOURCE: engine codes p1518, p0125, and p0420 for 2001 firebird

P0125 sets when engine coolant temp does not reach temperature for closed loop operation within a set amount of time.
May be a faulty sensor or thermostat.
P0420 Is related to a faulty rear 02sensor.
P1518 PCM & TAC module communication detected missing or invalid serial data.
If TAC related repair has been done, clear DTC & recheck system. It may be necessary to preform clear codes function twice to clear this DTC.
make sure starting system & charging system are functioning properly. Low voltage can cause this DTC to set. This should help. Let me know how its going.

When the air con on, my Kia Sportage 1996 run perfect idle, but when the air con off, it runs rough and engine almost dies.....itā€™s a 2.0 dohc

Sounds like the idle needs to be adjusted. When the AC comes on the car bumps up the idle speed so it doesn't stall with the extra load on the engine.

2004 Kia Optima idles rough when AC on; idles fine when AC off -- what is the problem?

Putting on the AC causes power to be taken from the engine, and that is quite usual (unless it's taking excessive power but if there are no noises and it's working ok that's unlikely).
That will slow down the engine (similar to switching on your heated rear window whilst idling)
What you are seeing is the idle is probably a bit slow, and it's too slow with AC on. Have a diagnostic run to check idle speed and mixture at low revs.

My mechanic said that i need to have my 2001 expedition flashed to keep it from idling so rough

its not true. you can find if its a air leak with carb cleaner spray it around the inlet side and air pipe's any change in engine speed then you have a leak were you last sprayed. but i'm thinking you have a dirty idle control my self on the intake (air line from the filter to the engine ) sits on the manifold you will see an set of wires one set go to the throttle control, and another set will go to the idle control. this is the part that will need to be removed. when removed clean with carb cleaner and a cloth give it a good spray inside leave to soak and then shake out and wipe do this a few times.clean the inside of the intake samway but with out the shake (bit hard to do with the engine). also there is a air line at the middle check this it can get blocked make sure this is clear. when you put this all back on it will be a bit harder to start that is the carb cleaner. should be fine after this if not come back. this should work unless you are having problems though differnt speeds.

Im trying to replace an ac compressor cluth with a bypass but cant find anything that tells me how

The major autoparts stores sell a bracket which uses the same boltholes as the old A/C compressor. It has a free-wheeling pulley and should use the same belt.
There are a few potential problems, I see, which may be noticeable in engine idle speed. When A/C worked, or Defroster, the drag of the compressor running was to be offset by a bump in the RPM to offset drag. You will need to tidy up the loose hoses to keep them from dangling in the engine compartment.

Ac cold idle

Not really.
The computer controls idle speed by using the idle air control valve depending on the load on the engine among other things.

2001 ford escort zx2 changed o2 sensors still runs rough in idle. when i turn ac on it helps. any ideals what the problem could be?

I would suspect a vacuum leak to be causing the rough idle. When you turn the A/C on the idle control solenoid raises the RPM's in order to compensate for the added load to the engine. Take a can of WD-40 or Carb cleaner and spray it around the intake manifold and any accessible vacuum lines, when the spray comes across a vacuum leak the engine idle will smooth out and usually increase in speed. Once this is done replace or reconnect whatever the fault may have been.

Engine speed decrease when stert the AC

IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE IDLE SPEED TOO LOW. IDLE SPEED SHOULD BE 750 - 850 RPM. IDLE SPEED NEED TO BE CORRECT OR IT WILL CAUSE ENGINE RUN ROUGH OR STALL OUT.AC COMPRESSOR WILL TAKE SOME POWER FROM ENGINE WHEN AC IS OPERATING.

2001 volvo s80 rough ideal below 40 mph especially when the ac is on. Also if i press the throttle while in park or in drive at low speed the ideal gets rough (pulsates and often stalls).

SOUND IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE NOT WORKING PROPERLY.IT SHOULD STEP UP IDLING WHEN YOU TURN ON THE AC TO KEEP ENGINE FROM STALLING OUT.

Only when i have the air conditioning on and punch the gas a little bit to back up or pull forward the engine stalls out so what can i do to fix that?

It sounds like your idle speed sensor is malfunctioning. Your fuel mixture could be too rich also. You could also just need your fuel injectors cleaned. The likely solution is the idle speed sensor though, it should increase idle speed a little when the AC is on to counteract the extra load. Good luck.
