Code 300 is for a random miss, code 17 is for a problem with the timing between the cam and crank sensors, and code 68 is a problem between where the throttle position sensor is and the amount of air coming into the throttle body.
You may need to research the trouble codes to get the testing procedures. You may also need a scanner to do the tests.

I had the same problem with my 2003 denali and came to find out that it was the battery causing the problem. the battery with sufficient power will dictate the tps. if the battery is low or bad, it won't have enough juice to allow the tps to. work. get your battery checked.

I say back to the shop if its a real problem, if at all to just clear the code to see if it comes back. That code is just an informational code. Just says what the car is doing :\ . My first guess would be a vacuum leak somewhere followed by a throttle body issue.
Testimonial: "This is a bit late but the problem was a very dirty throttle body. I cleaned it up and all systems go. Thanx, Tewksindahat"
