Should be a screw on top of the pump - upper right side.
It should fit a hex/allen/key size 5.
Oil level should be between min and max.
After filling, tighten screw with 8NM torque
If you look down through the "brush", you'll see the screw.
The screw on top of the pump is for the refill, the one on the side is to releave the preasure when you open the top manualy. There is a refill line on the side as well.
MERCEDES SLK 1999 COMPRESSOR..FLUID FOR HARDTOP..WE SEE A COPPER GOLD SCREW TO THE FAR RIGHT, BUT HARD TO GET TO..IS THIS IR?? DO YOU HAVE A PICTURE?? THKS
Couldn't have picked a worse place to fit the pump refil screw.
I don't normally tell the world of my mods bit this is one I will share.
The pump tank is typical merc quality so here goes.
1. One small electronics soldering iron.
2. 30ml syringe.
3. 1/4" x 1/2" Tec Screw
4. MB recommended hydraulic fluid.
Method.
Heat soldering iron and using suitable cylindrical tapered tip carefully insert melting a 1/4" hole approx 1" above level marks withdrawing carefully so as not to drop plastic into reservoir.
Using syringe, no tube required, suck fluid direct from new container of MB Fluid and insert tip into hole and eject fluid, continue until reaching upper level mart.
Insert Tec Screw, do not overtighten.
If you want a small spot of silicone to secure.
Took 10 mins looking at the job and dificulty.
Took 20 mins getting bits together from my shed to having roof up on my wife's favourite drive. 1 week later all god no leak. Roof up and down twice each day.
Tok longer to post this than do the job.

This symptom almost always points to a mechanical issue, not an electrical one. The SLK hardtop is notorious for needing to be lubricated every couple of years. Here is a link with directions and photos:

Sticking joints are the most common culprit to intermittent raising and lowering problems. Once those have been lubricated and that has been checked off the list, then look into electrical issues. Remember, you don't rebuild an engine that has only ran out of gas. The switch that is triggered by pulling back the partition separator is likely not the issue. If this switch is faulty, it will not even let the pump run to open the trunk. In order for that switch to be the problem, the switch would need to be shorting out AFTER the trunk lid opens. But that still also means the pump would be stopped and no longer be heard.
