If it's just the dash lights it could be a fuse, but most likely if you have headlights and no tail lights it's the headlight switch. needs to be replaced

i assume you have checked all lighting fuses. if you have not, start there. do you have brake lights? if you do have brake and head lights then i would suspect the dimmer/light switch.
The tail lights are usually on the same fuse as your dash lights. Check to see if you have tail lights. If they are on and it's only your dash lights that don't work, check the dash dimmer switch for a fault.
what dash light.? if the entire illumination of the dash does not work the dash light dimmer is probably bad.i think it only has two wires take it out and jump accross the two terminals after unplugging it.lights work bad switch.
The Dash and Tail lights connect to the same fuse in most cars. if the fuse is okay, check to make sure the tail lights and/or dash lights are properly grounded. all bulbs could be blown...but highly unlikely.
