Re: will a dash from a 1996 GMC interchange with a 1991...
A salvage yard might be able to tell you for sure. They have interchange information on most parts. The trucks are generally the same but the mounting locations could be different.

You didn't really specify which parts, but many parts are interchangeable between the 1991-1996 B-body cars (and D-body, the Cadillac Fleetwood). The B-body cars were the Caprice and Roadmaster (Sedan and Wagons), Olds Custom Cruiser (only produced until 1992) and the Impala SS (1994-1996). They all share the same frame (D-body is slightly stretched) and most of the suspension parts are the same, or at least interchangeable. The interiors are different, but most things like seats and door panels would be interchangeable. The B-bodies started out with Chevy 5.0 Liter and 5.7 Liter TBI engines, later the L99 (4.3 Liter) and LT1 (5.7 Liter).
well you have to do some research but I believe 1992 was the changeover from non electronic to electronic controlled trans. the best way I have found to figure this out for vehicle to vehicle interchange is to call a salvage yard and the are very good at this because the have to know to sell parts effectively. Hope this helps.
i know one thing you do not have to take dash board out and yes you do take glove box out. you might have to take one bolt out under dash on far right but thats all. there is one screw top far right on heater box upper thats a bear other than that it is not that bad. if you need a diagram most major autoparts stores have web sights you can go to for detailed assembly and disassembly instructions and diagrams.
