My info says, auto, is like drl. There a light sensor. I can't guarantee the light sensor is faulty? Your headlamp switch on and hi/lo beams are input to the bcm. The light sensor is input to the bcm. You have hi and lo beam relays, the bcm ground control side of relay based on inputs from light switch and light sensor.
I don't know if this is any help or not? If you want a wiring diagram, I'll try to post it?
Sounds like you need a new multi function switch.

Serious question - Have you checked the fuse?

clean the computer lead interface. my buddies car did the same thing, we cleaned the computer leads with a good eletronic spray cleaner and it fixed the problem.

Good Evening, I have an odd question because I have seen this once before........ Have you checked the low beams themselves, like take out the bulb and look at the filament? The other thing would be to check for power to the plug in when you unplug the bulb get a test light and hook one end to (-) and the light one to the wire if it doesn't light try the other wire. If it lights do the reverse and hook one end to (+) and then the light end to the other wire you didn't test and see if it lights up. If it lights up on both wires your bulb is bad. I have seen headlamp switches go bad and headlamp assemblies as well. However by far I would check for power out at the bulb plug in and check the bulbs. Hope this helps and if you have any more questions please feel free to ask.

It appears to me that the timer in the headlamp switch is faulty. Remove the switch to check the power to the headlamps

mdsarnes, The first thing that I would check is the fuse for the low beams located in the engine compartment power distribution box. (Fuse box) GM does have a legend written right on the cover so you know which fuse to check. Also, when the low beams are on try and wiggle the connectors to each bulb. If these dont work, replace one bulb and see if it works. If it does then take the same bulb and try it on the other side. If you have a test light then you can test for power at the plugs before you purchase any bulbs. Good luck with this.
