How do I reset a 2002 bmw 320i immobilizer?

When I went to start my car, I accidentally pressed the lock button at the same time I was turning the key in the ignition. Now my car won't start. How do I reset it?

SOURCE: I replace the cover on my key and now my car want

Go to BMW dealership, with all the proof of ownership papers and they will order you the correct key to start your car. You can not mess with their anti theft proofing and expect it to work. Personally I would say that I got a replacement key cut and lost the old one, thinking that the replacement key was enough to get the car working.... that way they won't laugh at you inside the dealership. You broke the RF, located inside the key cover. Now the only way to fix it is through the BMW dealership, and it is not going to be cheap. But then again, you own a BMW, not exactly a car you buy because it is easy on the pocket book. Good luck

SOURCE: My bmw 320i e90 2005 only cranks but won't start

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.

To confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required.

Remote will not unlock doors can not unlock from inside

- Sit in the car with all the doors shut and windows up with your key fobs (all your fobs need to be done at the same time)
- With one of your keys turn the ignition on then off and remove the key
- Press and hold the unlock botton and then press the lock button 3 times.
- Release all buttons and the locks will bounce up and down.
- Repeat this with the other key/keys (press and hold unlock and press lock 3 times, locks will bounce)

Note: Only switch your ignition on once, doing so again while programming will reset the process and you will have to start again.

Bmw 325 on a y reg will turn over but will not fire fault code pointing immobilizer fault anti tamper fault any ideas easy cheap fix thanks

Hi Mark you could try to see if re-programming the key might do it, you could also disconnect the battery for 10 minutes and see if it resets that way...to re-program the key this is what you do, please follow by the book or it wont work, this however is just a trial to see if it will do the job, if reprogramming the key does not do it, then disconnect the battery for ten minutes and then try re-programming of the key...
1, unlock the car with the key ( not fob) get in and shut the door 2, switch ignition on and then off ( do not try to run it just on then off) 3, remove ignition key 4, press and hold unlock button 5, press lock button 3 times quickly all within ten seconds keeping the unlock button pressed 6, release unlock button 7 ( if you have this type of key fob) the led will flash slowly for 10 seconds 8,( if you have this type of key fob) the central locking system will lock and unlock rapidly to indicate correct programming 9 ( if you have this type of key fob) repeat procedure if the led flashes constantly, or the locking system does not unlock and lock rapidly please follow as directed..if you have any problems understanding what to do, please contact me on email address [email protected] hope this helps

How to reset service light for BMW e90 320i in year 2006

This is for 2001 onwards :

- Iginition OFF (POS 0) with key in.

- Press and Hold the trip odometer button while turning key to position 1 (ACCESSORY)

- Keep the button depressed (about 5 secs.) until you see "Oil Service" or "Inspection" with "Reset" or "Re" in the display

- *Note: On vehicles with "High" cluster, you will also see the amount of fuel (in litres) remaining until next service

- Press the button again and hold for approx. 5 secs. until "Reset" or "Re" flashes

- While the display is flashing, briefly press the button again to reset the Service Interval. After the display has shown the new interval you should see "END SIA" for about 2 secs.

Note that if the "Reset" or "Re" does not flash, then you have not met the minimum consumption level and cannot reset.

Providing central locking works when you insert key in lock, try programming keys
Enter car make sure all doors/windows are shut
Switch ignition on and off, remove key
PRESS AND HOLD UNLOCK BUTTON ON KEY
Press lock button on key 3 times whithin 10 seconds and release unlock
Central locking will lock/unlock rapidly to confirm reset
If your key is the type with bmw logo in the middle battery replacement is not possible,as it charges as you drive

Central Locking does not work

You must reset your remote control in order for the lock/unlock to work properly.

To reset remote you would:
1)Insert Key in Ignition Turn to Position 1(Don't Start the Engine) for about 5 seconds
2)Turn Key Off and HOLD the LOCK button on Remote while pressing the UNLOCK 3 TIMES
3)Release both lock and unlock buttons you are holding
4)All doors should automatically unlock

And exit the door and lock with the Remote.

I have the same problem with my car. BMW replaced all the locks and gave me the new keys but they don't work. I tried to initialise them following the instructions on the manual but still a problem. I suspect the receiver is not working. Please advise.

How to program the key for my bmw 750i model 1997 to lock/unlock the door

BMW 7-Series - Key Remote Programming
Three methods to try:
Method 1:
1. Working from within the vehicle and with the doors shut
2. Turn ignition to position 1 and back to off within 5 seconds.
3. Remove the key from ignition and press and hold the unlock button for 15 seconds during this time press the key lock button 3 times within 5 seconds.
4. Release both buttons.
5. Doors will lock and unlock to show correct programming has occurred.

Method 2:
To do this procedure you need to have one working key and one key that needs to be programmed.
1) Get in and close all doors.
2) Turn on the ignition and turn off quickly. (No more than 5 seconds) to start the process. Next action must take place within 30 seconds.
3) Remove the 1st key.
4) Hold the key up near your left shoulder (this is so it is closer to the remote receiver antenna.
5) Hold down the unlock button and press the lock button 3 times. Release the unlock button and the doors lock which confirms the operation.
6) Quickly repeat steps 4 & 5 for key #2 etc.
If it does not work, try doing the keys in opposite order. Key 2 then key 1, vs 1 then 2.

Method 3:
Alternate if you do not have a working remote
1. Turn key to position 1 five times very quickly 2. Remove key 3. Hold unlock button then press lock button 3 times, release unlock button.
4. If you have another key do the same button pressing within 30 seconds 5. Turn on ignition to finalise.
PLEASE NOTE: This programming procedure programs the remote control part of the key. Any transponder chip for the immobiliser (starting of car) will not be programmed and must be done by a specialist.
