If you have already purchased the replacement part; remove the door panel. Behind the mirror there will be three 10mm. Remove the bolts and replace the mirror.

SOURCE: Changing Door Mirror Glass XJ6(X300)

Hi

You need to put on a pair of gloves, and safety glasses. (Safety First !)
Prise off the broken mirror from the plastic base that it is stuck too.
Give the plastic a clean with nail polish remover or similar.
Peel off the backing on new mirror glass, and carefully stick it on.

Good Luck !

SOURCE: electric door mirror repair

Hi.. It was an Avensis not a camry. Unfortunately the Avenssi was not on the drop down list.

Basically The bits on the back of the galss mirror did not seem to match up with the backplate. After trying several different ways I did the following.

1. remove the black casing this leaves a cover with several holes in it.

2 slide the lugs on the mirror furthest away from the door into the slot just to the left of the round circular backplte.

3 put a screwdriver through the rear housing hole near to the door. If you look through you will see a "lug sitting on a black lip. Use the screwdriver to force the lip away from the car. the lug will slip down the side of it. release the lip and it will secure the mirror.

Note the mirror does not seem to fit 100% correctly so I've added some tape for extra security.

Cheers

SOURCE: remove passenger side mirror

On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and disconnect the wiring for your controls. Then you can access the bolts that secure the mirror onto the door

Offside door mirror has continuous ratcheting action, after being knocked.

Sounds like the main motor mount pin is snapped.
Unfortunately they are right, you will need to replace the mirror unit complete.

That said, I wouldnt be paying $700. Ring around wreckers and get a 2nd hand one. You'll likely find one in the right colour for your vehicle..

My 2003 toyota echo passinger side mirror will not adjust it just falls forward. It is the type that is manual but has an adjustment knob inside the car. How do I replace it? The whole unit?

It sounds like you may have to replace the entire unit. There are rods inside the housing that connect to the back of the mirror itself. These rods are what allows you to control the mirror and are also what's suppose to keep the mirror stationery. It sounds like the clips have separated.

Need instructions to replace drivers side rear view mirror glass.

Outside Mirrors REMOVAL & INSTALLATION The mirrors on these models can be removed from the door without disassembling the door liner or other components. Both left and right outside mirrors may be either manual, manual remote (small lever on the inside to adjust the mirror) or electric remote. If the mirror glass is damaged, replacements may be available through your dealer or a reputable glass shop in your area. If the plastic housing is damaged or cracked, the entire unit will need to be replaced. Manual
  1. Remove the set screw and the adjustment knob, if equipped.
  2. Remove the delta cover; that's the triangular black inner cover. It can be removed with a blunt plastic or wooden tool. Don't use a metal prytool; the plastic will be marred.
  3. Fig. 1: Use a tapped ended tool to pry the trim from the mirror 89550g29.gif

  4. Depending on the style of mirror, there may be concealment plugs or other minor parts under the delta cover — remove them.
  5. Support the mirror housing from the outside and remove the three bolts or nuts holding the mirror to the door.
  6. Remove the mirror assembly.
  7. Installation is the reverse of removal.
  8. Power
    1. Turn the ignition key to the OFF position. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Wait at least 90 seconds from the time the negative battery was disconnected to start work. CAUTION
Some models covered by this manual may be equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), which uses an air bag. Whenever working near any of the SRS components, such as the impact sensors, the air bag module, steering column and instrument panel, disable the SRS, as described in Section 6.
    2. Remove the delta cover; that's the triangular black inner cover. It can be removed with a blunt plastic or wooden tool. Don't use a metal prytool; the plastic will be marred.
  9. Depending on the style of mirror, there may be concealment plugs or other minor parts under the delta cover — remove them.
  10. Depending on the type of door trim, you may need to remove the door inner panel to access the electrical wiring harness for the mirror.
  11. Support the mirror housing from the outside and remove the three bolts or nuts holding the mirror to the door.
  12. If the wiring to the electric mirror was not disconnected previously, detach it now. Some connectors can only be reached after the mirror is free of the door. Remove the mirror assembly.
  13. Installation is the reverse of removal. Cycle the mirror several times to make sure that it works properly.

How do you replaced a mirror on a 1990 Toyota Celica ST?

What part are you replacing? Just the glass, or the entire mirror head?

If just the glass it glues to a backing plate, if the entire head it will bolt to the car which will require you to remove the door panel on the inside to get to those bolts.

Passenger side mirror

If you need to replace the entire mirror - it's a little involved. First you need to take the upper extension panel off from behind the mirror (black triangle) - just pull it of starting at the top. It will snap back on later. Next - remove the different screws holding the door panel in place (not the ones behind the mirror yet!) One is under the handle (pull it out and pull out the filler panel - small plastic thing that has a hole to pry it out). Then take off the rear red light - also pops off - and remove that screw. Finally - pick up the rubber filler where your fingers pull the door shut and remove these torx bolts.

Now is the tricky part. Snapp off the entire interior panel. It will pop off - but very difficult. It will sound like it is breaking! Start at the outer bottom corner - and use a door panel remover tool - check Amazon or E-bay - to keep from breaking things. Pull it out from all around the bottom and sides and then lift it up over the door lock. It good to have a friend help here. The panel will still be held on by a cable - that is your door release - leave it alone and let the panel hang by it (or better, put a box under it to rest on).

Now...remove the three bolts holding the mirror on - have a friend help hold the mirror while you do this or it will scratch your new car! Since the inner panel is off - you can also disonnect the mirror plus and remove it. It sounds silly - but the only reason to remove the door panel is to unplug it!

Get you new mirror and reverse the steps.

If you are just replacing the glass (non-heated) - get a replacement from the dealer. Adjust the mirror all the way to the inside and reach behind and pop it off. CAREFUL - put tape over the entire glass as it will likely break even more! Remove your connectors if heated - and replace (and reconnect) with your new glass. It just pops back on!

Replacing glass is easy - just be careful of cheap imitations on e-abay). And never use cheap flat glass on the passenger side! The DOT has special requirements for mirror glass - buy it from gmpartsdirect.com or your local dealer.
