This car is equiped with remote start. When the vehicle is up to temp acording to the gauge it only blow cold air at idle speed. When the vehicle is being driven or if you depress the accelorator it will blow warm air but not like it should. I can only assume that it is a switch or sensore of some kind. Can anyone help me?
Impalas are known for this issue, where the heating won't work properly.... usually caused by trapped air/bubbles in cooling system or slightly low coolant level. Park car so that the right front side is elevated and remove the coolant OVERFLOW bottle cap (NEVER the radiator cap) while engine is running.. This should allow the trapped air to escape. Also add a bit more coolant if needed.
My 2006 Impala would not blow warm air at idle...this is a common problem caused by an air pocket in the heater core. To fix this, I removed the upper heat hose when the car was cold (hoses are to the left of the brake fluid reservior when viewed from the front) and added a cup of water to the hose side until the fluid came out of the metal tube it connects to. This is a 5 minute fix...all you need is a pair of pliers, a funnel and some water.
I have a 06 impala and my heater does the same thing. You need to burp the radiator to fix it. You have to start your engine when its cold and then turn your heater on the max. Remove the radiator cap and let it Idle for 10 to 15 min. or until you don't see anymore bubbles coming out. You might want to do the same thing the next morning to make sure all the air is out and then add coolant if it's necessary. Some say to point the car down hill will work better but I'll let you be the judge. Good luck and I hope this has helped you. Tom
I had the same problem and took it to the dealer they fixed it. Ill read from the receipt what was wrong: tested the cooling system and found the coolant low. pressure tested the cooling system and found the crossoverpipe gasket and the water pump leaking coolant. they replaced the crossover pipe gasket the water pump and topped off the coolant. note from me it blows so hot not it will burn you
2006 impala says engine hot a/c off and only blows luke warm air

I put my Impalla in the Garage for this problem and the mechanic checked all hoses and all hoses were hot except the one going to the heater core. He bled the hoses by letting the car idle with the radiator cap off. he also added coolant to the reservoir. The car now gives heat while idling. He seemed to think that there was an air lock in the hose going to the heater core. Hope this is helpful!
On my 06 impala ss dealer told me they had a recall for rhe heater core hoses. It sounded like I had a water fall in dash. Might contact dealer and see if ur car can be fixed for free
I found the two metle tubes that go to the heater core are pointing up so at idle it starts to blow cold air . Fix I heated and bent the heater hoses down and shorten the rubber hoses causing the coolant to run down insted of up I now have heat at a idle
Sounds like thermostat is stuck open.
The failsafe themostat didnt work because the cooling system wasnt bled... As for the heating... the new mechanic unplugged the battery for 15 minutes and plugged it in and the heat worked fine!!! I like my impala again!

I had the same problem whit my 2000 Impala all I had to do take off those two hoses behind the engine going to the cab put them on the other way and it's working now

I have the same problem and was told to flush the heater core. Thats what I'm trying next. I already tried the thermostat thing and it's a no go.

I am having the same problem
2006 chevrolet impala LT first the heat wouldn't work and then the temp started to go up so the fan kicked in and brought the temp down. Â The next day i added coolant. The car was fine the gage did not rise or anything. I took it to get a oil change and mentioned the problem so the "mechanic" Â replaced the thermostat with a fail safe thermostat and the car began to overheat once we tried to test drive. Then he flushed the coolant system and left out the thermostat .... the heat still will not get warm unless I'm driving but the overheating completely stopped when the car is idle as well as driving. I really want my heat back... if anyone knows why the car still wont heat?
i have done the heater core flush it dont work. the only thing i can think of now is the heater controls or the heater core is bad. my car blows no heat now but it started just like that only working when driving.
I have had my 2006 impala for 3 winters now and deal with the same problem every winter. This year the car overheated and had to replace the water pump and thermostat....thought the problem would be fixed. Heating problem is worse. Have tried the idling for 15 minutes with cap off and topping off antifreeze. Improved for morning heat up ... but after work, back to same heating problem. I do hear water fall sounds under the hood when going down the road so am going to look into the tube fix below. If that doesn't work I will have to flush the heater core.
