this code is for fuel tank level sensor, I don't think this is the reason for high emissions, can you give me the emissions results and I'll see if I can give you better advice?

I am trying to find the location for my crankshaft position sensor on my 1999 Mitsubishi Diamante

Your 1999 Mitsubishi Diamante is a 3.5L MFI SOHC 6cyl engine.
MFI = multi-port fuel injection
SOHC = single overhead camshaft
This answer covers Mitsubishi Diamante1.8L, 2.4L, 3.0L (SOHC and DOHC), 3.5L, and 1997-2000 1.5L Engines.

2.4L engine shown, others similar.

Fig.1 - CKP position and its two mounting bolts
am-trying-find-location-crankshaft-vkz3iz4htmqkl2kxsk34hqrj-3-0.jpg

In Fig. 1, the two arrows point to the CKP (crankshaft position sensor) mounting bolts to remove. 2.4L engine shown.

Fig.2 - CKP reluctor removal
am-trying-find-location-crankshaft-vkz3iz4htmqkl2kxsk34hqrj-3-2.jpg
Remove the sensor and slide the reluctor wheel off of the crankshaft-2.4L engine shown.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the timing belt.
3. Unplug the sensor connector.
4. Unfasten the two retaining bolts, then remove the CKP sensor from the vehicle.
5. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.

Where is the Crankshaft position sensor for a 97 isuzu rodeo 2.6L? Pictures please!!

if the scan tool dont show it bad, its not. but... no symptoms posted
lost all spark, and engine dont start but cranks ok.
alldata shows this. alldata.com,
$250+ part too.. try a real scan tool? yet?
3 wire sensor, HALL type.

the correct name for this engines is 2.6 L 4ZE1 I4

if you google that , you can learn 1000 things, and where the parts are.
The 2.6L 4ZE1 SOHC eight valve engine features 120 hp (89 kW) and was available as an option to replace the 4ZD1 on four-wheel-drive models.

like all CKPs it can only be in 3 places.
front crank end.
rear end (lots of ways, here, on fly, behind fly, on crank)
mid crank (rare)

but also depends on what country sold, , in the USA they
had to move it, for misfire detection !
so where are you, or better to what country was the car sold to, new.
called market.

on the early cars there were no CKP, on the CAS in the DIzzy base.
on our cars it will throw a P0340 to 355 error if bad or even drops 1 in 10 pulses.like clock work that fact
outside USA, code 41"s"

im googling 4ze1 for your.
and the 3rd hit i find

"1995-1997 Pickup, Trooper II, Amigo, Rodeo 2559cc, 2.6L, Engine Model 4ZE1. Crankshaft has a bolt-on sensor ring at the rear main journal."

now you know why its $250,

ever heard of rockauto.

Cant get timing marks to aline what are the timing marks on a 1.6 daul over head cam engine

very old post , and no year car. stated. 1990 to 1993 range.
TIMING marks?, (CAM OR SPARK?)
ILL GUESS< 92, cam.
here is your answer, (the path to it ,too)
this car (sheep skinned) is a really and ISUZU.
for sure the engine. (with long ago lost support by ISUZU in USA)
Geo IS GM, and they may (?) have parts. but support is very poor there on GEO.s
i'd start here.
http://www.robietherobot.com/storm/geo_storm_links.htm

also , you can buy and old FSM for your car on ebay if patient.
or login to alldata.com and look there.
1.6L DOHC engine.
THIS IS AN INTEFERENCE ENGINE.
I responded because you are one of the only folks posting here
that knows whats under their hood. of the 3 types.
1.6 L SOHC 4XE1 I4
1.6 L DOHC 4XE1 I4
1.8 L DOHC 4XF1 I4

You, engine is a 4xe1 (isuzu sady don't change the engine name with the DOHC up grade , making parts hard to find and books.
Suzuki did the same silly thing too...
as you might guess, the DOHC is timed quite different.
right now im online at alldata.
and you are at step 11. the cam belt
staring at 3 big cam cogs.
here is the drawing. (1 of 2, the 2nd is belt routing)
step 7
Align the crankshaft pulley to TDC
then 11

i feel sorry for any ISUZU owner or GEO's of any kind.
sorry so late.

WHY IS THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ON IN MY SATURN??

The Check Engine light will light when the ECU stores a trouble code.
Counting the Flashes
To retrieve trouble codes, turn the ignition key to the "on" position with the engine OFF.
The Check engine light will flash many short blinks. The total number of blinks equals the code number. For example, flash, pause, flash, flash = code 12.If more than one code is stored, the Check engine light will flash the codes in sequence (lowest to highest) with a pause between each code. The codes will repeat until the key is turned to the OFF position.
