I have a 2002 Kia Rio Cinco, I haven't had any issues with the car for months, until now. I was driving out in the country, and the transmission SUDDENLY quit working. I went to accelerate, put my foot on the gas pedal, and the engine just revs, and the RPM gauge jumps all over. Got it off the road, and tried it in every gear, R, D, 1, 2, the motor just revs, it will not go anywhere. It has an automatic transmission, did the transmission go out, or could it be something simpler?
Have you checked the fluid level? Was there any oil leak spots under the car?
Correct any low fluid level and give it a try.
If the fluid is at the correct level, disconnect the battery for 10 mins then reconnect and try it again,if it still won't work you may have to have a transmission expert take a look at it.
You can put in a used transmission if needed and not spend lots of $$$ for a rebuilt trans,or just buy another complete vehicle to drive and not fix your 2002.

There only one problem wrong. You dont let your transmission warm up.You transmission has you warm up just like the motor.Try this and i promise when you take off it will shift like no other

I had same problem with my Stupid KIA RIO 2002. Change the spark plug wires and Spark plugs. I could not figure out this simple problem. It left me in middle of the road and costed me $200 for dealer to tell me that. Oil leaks from valve cover gasket onto spark plug wires. Then, spark plugs and spark plug wires will not have electric connection and you will not get combustion. That is why your car does not have any power and can not run fast.
Dealer ship are not any smarter except they run into the same thing over and over again
