My truck clutch just quit working, after I felt like the linkage to the clutch came loose,
Confirm if you have fluid leak from master or slave cylinder of if you have damp valve.try to bleed as it is to confirm the fault. If fault does not resolved then check as some times the cause is the damp valve does not allow fluid to flow through to slave cylinder. If your clutch master cylinder is ok, and the slave cylinder as well, start the bleeding by the damp valve which is on the mid way of master and salave cylinders. Then beed the slave cylinder for good clutch.

To determine which type of clutch you have, servo hydraulic or cable.
Look down past the engine bell housing and determine the existance of a hydraulic clutch slave cylinder.(a piece of casting with a rod facing towards the rear of the vehicle pocket into a bracket protruding out of the gearbox bell housing. As well as a pipe and bleed nipple to be crude)
(which I believe you have). The hydraulic fluid for this unit is sourced from the brake master cylinder reservoir via a sneaky pipe partially obscured to the clutch master cylinder on the internal firewall. If you have no clutch slave cylinder near the bell housing there would be an obvious bounden cable running from the firewall down to the outer of which will be stopped at a bracket hanging off the engine. The inner will continue to a bracket protruding from the gearbox bell housing.

Hello Missy.
I would be suspicious of both needing replacement.
Did they tell you exactly what the problem was?
There must be a leak somewhere.
Perhaps faulty installation?
I could see if one of the components was defective due to manufacturing problem, but both of them I doubt.
Perhaps a different shops opinion on the problem would be in order in this case.
Let me know if your have further questions regarding this here. (no further charges)
Thank you for using FixYa.

Sounds like you may have air trapped in the system.Try this trick.Remove the bleeder screw from the slave cylinder.Place your finger over the hole to act as a one way valve, allowing air and fluid to escape but not allowing air to get sucked back in.Then have someone stroke the pedal slowly making full strokes, keep an eye onn the resevoir so that it does not get low and fill the system with more air.If there is room turn a bottle of brake fluid upsidedown in the resevoir to keep it from running dry. After you have run a bottle of fluid through it replace the bleeder and pump and bleed the old fashioned way a few times. If there is air it should be gone.If clutch will still not disengage the something is wrong with clutch plate and or pressure plate.Good luck!
