Question about 2002 Saab 9-3

1 Answer

My stick shifter is very loose and car will only go into 4th gear and also it has a fuel system issue. I just purchased the car and it ran good o the test drive but it was basicly on E. So i filled it up drove it 7 miles and it started idling bad and dying on me. I drove it 4 more miles to auto zone and put some lucas fuel injector cleaner in it and it ran great. I then drove it from Dallas TX to OKC, OK and It was perfect all the way until i got to the metro 200 miles so i change the oil oil filter and fuel filter for about 30 miles it drove good then it started to idle eraticly again, each time it idled badly the check engie lite would come on. with an error code 1260 & 1251

Because the car has adaptive technology, it may take a while to reset and adjust to the new, cleaner and better conditions than those to which it had previously adapted.

Did you change the cap and rotor? if the plugs needed replacement, likely they do too

Possible other causes include:

loose or corroded connections to any electrical component you disturbed (make a checklist and tick them all off as you check them);

mis-reinstallation of any F.I. part disturbed(checklist again)

obstructed water flow through the AIC valve;

improper voltage output from the AIC valve (for LH 2.4 systems, should output 8 volt at idle, dropping as load increases; for LH 2.4.2 system output 7 volt at idle etc; testing between terminals)33 and 17 at disconnected LH connector;

possible problem with MAF.

Hope this helps

The complete loss of oil suggests that you might have a piston problem!

First, check the compression on all cylinders; all values should be within a range of 10% from highest to lowest. Typical value about 140 psi.

One cause could be a blown piston or rings, allowing pressure into the crankcase, and blowing oil out of the filler pipe - very fine and barely visible, not spouting. You might feel the pressure pulses from the damaged or leaking cylinder.

If one cylinder has zero pressure, it's more than likely the cause of the problem. Do a wet compression test (pour a little oil into the cylinder immediately before connecting the compression tester - it usually seals any leaking rings for a little while) and if it holds pressure, that points to the rings; if no pressure again, that points to the piston.

Let us know the compression test results.

The Pacifica will not shift past 4th gear. It shifts normally through 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear. Their is no high reeving RPS, no clunking, no lurching. It will just not shift past 4th gear.

is there an OD button that might have been pressed .if it has lots of miles on it it could be needing a flush job . last one I got done was around 100.00 at jiffy lube.

Gear stick stuck in reverse gearstick loose and cannot select any other gears

This sounds very much like the nylon ball as worn that enters your gear shifter, it's something you can do yourself if you get the replacement part for it but make sure it's that before you purchase the new part, you can gain access to it from inside the car by removing the gear laver assembly 15min job.

Good luck.

Gears are in the wrong order after manual shifter cables replacement

Did you make sure the gear stick was in the same position when you fixed the new parts and parts are tight enough.
Or take cover off gear stick in car where it goes into the selector and reset the gears from there.

I have been having an issue with my 02 Jetta where my shifter seems like it comes loose. The car will still be in gear but the shifter moves freely between 3rd and 4th but will not go into any gear or move...

Seems like a pin or clip has become loose or misaligned where the shifter meets the transmission. A simple answer, but you may have a simple problem.

Hello there
you should look under the cover behind the seat on the floor.There are 4 phillips screws remove the cover and there is a shifter coupler.Look if it has a play (the plastic is worn out) or the little 3mm allen screw bolt is loose.If ok look at the shifter tower bushing.

'99 wrangler has trouble shifting to 2nd gear - 4th gear occasionally slips to neutral

If you can see where the shifter goes through the floorboard, make sure the shifter is not hitting the floor.
There could be interfierence under the car also.
