Wrap a rag around the alarm unit to silence it, the unit has it's own internal battery and will soon run down. Replace your fully charged car battery and then you can safely unwrap the alarm unit without it going off and annoying your neighbours. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: horn beeps as if in an alarm mode

It is shut down in an alarm. The owners manual says to unlock the passenger door to turn off the alarm and allow the engine to start. I had the same problem when I bought a 1996 Jetta whith a dead battery.

Check the level of the brake fluid, as the pads wear down the fluid level falls slightly and the sensor reacts and gives the warning, it may happen more as you are cornering and the brake fluid moves, try gently topping up the brake fluid it doesn't need much..

SOURCE: Alarm on car goes off for no apparnt reason night and day

Hi, passats of your cars year suffer from water leaking into the car from the heater inlet ducting mounted forward of the windscreen on the N/S. This contaminates a number of multiplug wiring connections mounted inside the car to the left of the passenger side footwell (behind the plastic kickpanel). Remove the panel and inspect each of the multiplugs by pulling them apart. Any connections affected buy water ingress and corrosion should be cleaned with contact cleaner and treated with water repellant spray (WD40 etc). To affect a permanent repair the heater ducting/inlet box will need to be removed and sealed - probably a garage job.
Hope that helps Matt...

Vw passat 2006 slow to start this morning and this afternoon alarm went off when i locked the car and took 10 seconds to stop

Sounds like the battery or a short in the battery line. The VW alarm will come on if you disconnect the battery. Use a voltmeter (or mutlimeter) to check the battery voltage (red lead on positive pole; black on negative; range on 0-50V). When car is not running, you should see 12V; when car is running, you should see 15V (if the alternator is working). You can also test the battery charge by turning on the headlights. If they brighten when you rev the engine or if the dim when you turn on other electrical accesories, then it is likely the battery.

Have you checked the charge on the battery? How bout your connections at the terminals. Vw are very sensitve to voltage drops. You might even have something thats draining your battery

My 98 vw jetta alarm wont stop going off

Maybe your key remote batteries need to be changed. Also have it scanned for DTC's which I believe you may have quite a few stored in memory, problems you weren't aware of.
