Driver door lock will not turn with key on a 1996 crown victoria

I cannot turn the key on the driver side door. In order for me to get in I would have to go to the passenger side and unlock it from there. The buttons are find it's the key hole itself that is giving me the problem.

You need to replace the tumbler assembly, a locksmith can set it to work with your old key.

SOURCE: locks not working properly

been there ------open up the rubber connector between the drivers door and the body [by the door hinges ] the wires break from flexing. just solder or **** connector them back together. it helps to add some wire to one of the broken ends to make it easier to connect . there may be more than 1 wire broken

SOURCE: passenger side door will only unlock if you pull handle and only lock if you push lock down.key, switch or remote won't work.

You are on the right track.

Door panel is easy to take off. you need a screwdriver and a panel popper (or if you don't have one carefully pull the panel off with your hands, you may have to get new panel clips) ,they are cheap so no big deal.

SOURCE: 1998 Taurus SE warning chime beeps as you get in the driver door

Hi John,

Had a similar problem with my Saturn. Door chime going all the time, the seat belts going up - down - up for no apparent reason.

Turned out to be the switch in the door jamb had become unseated. As it randomly made and broke contact, the cars computer thought the doors were opening and closing, then acted accordingly.

I remounted it with the help of a hot glue gun (plastic mount).

Hope this info helps with your problem.

Best regards
Mike

SOURCE: The driver side door lock wont go all the way up.

The outside door handle spring is broke ,or the latch spring is broke. The only way to tell is remove the door panel and inspect the rod from the handle to latch. Look for broken spring on handle. I have installed an external spring from the handle rod to latch to keep the rod in the full up position.

How to bypass crown victoria theft deterrent system

You can't by-pass this system. Try locking/unlocking the doors with the key fob. If that doesn't work, try locking/unlocking the drivers door with the key. If still no luck, try disconnecting the battery for a minute or so. Do you have another key you can try?

We have a 1995 Crown Victoria, the front door lock won't unlock. The key goes in, and the lock turns, but the lock will not open. Any ideas how to fix this?

you need to strip off the inner door cover to see the lock its likely to be the rod that moves the lock just fell off,,,its an easy fix i bet all the parts are in the bottom of the door?

My driver side door wont lock

The actuator that locks the door is probably worn out. I would simply lock it manually .
If you desire to , you can replace the actuator by removing the interior trim panel and drilling the rivets holding the actuator in the door. Replace the rivets with small screw/bolt combos .
