Coolant light on an AUDI TT 2000

My low coolant light warning comes on when I start the car in cold weather, and drive off. But if I let the car warmup for about 5 minutes, the light doesn't come on.

Do I and Can I add coolant? Do I need to get a flush? Or Can I avoid getting a flush, only drive about 20 miles a day?

yeah I'm trying to figure ou which coolant to uset... I've read dexcool's 50/50 mixture is compatable...But everyone seems to suggest a flush before the use... but I also hear that I should only uses audi's mixture...so I'm not sure which will be safe to use, just to top off...

I have about 72k on the car... and I have no idea if it's been flushed before.. if It's in scheduled maintenance it's been done.. I only use the dealer, and I tend to keep up with the scheduled maintenance... but nowadays, it's difficult for me to make it to the dealer in the near term....

It sounds like it is low on coolant. Coolant expands when it warms up so if it is just low enough to trip the switch when it is cold it will shut the light off when it warms up. You should be ok to just top it off but be sure that what you put in is compatible with what is in it. There must also be a leak somewhere in the system for you to have lost some to begin with. Depending on how many miles you have on the car it wouldn't hurt to have the cooling system flushed if it's never been done before. If you do get it flushed take it to the dealer to have it done. Explain to them the low coolant and have them check the system for leaks at the same time. Hope this helps

Stay away from Dexcool. GM just lost a several million dollar class action lawsuit because of Dexcool eating up intake manifold gaskets. I know in the past Audi/VW had their own coolant that you had to use. Contact your dealer service department and use what they say to use or better yet take it in and have them leak test the system and top it up, you are covered that way if something gets screwed up. Hope this helps you.

I have a 2008 Audi TT Roadster. My engine light came on and temperature gauge quit working.

Check your coolant level, if it's too low it won't come in to contact with the temperature sensor.

MY 2001 AUDI TT QUATRRO THE COOLANT LIGHT JUST CAME ON AND IS FLASHING. tHE CAR HAS BEEN RUNNING COOL ON THE TEMP GAUGE BELOW THE HALF WAY MARK C/H IS IT OK FOR ME TO DRIVE TO GET TO A SHOP. i AM NO...

hi.
if the light is flashing but the temp is ok, then the coolant level is low.
if it is low because it has not been checked in a while, then there should be a problem.
if it is low because of a leak or a broken hose then the car SHOULD NOT be driven.

best thing to do is top up the coolant with normal water and check under the car to see if there are any obvious leaks. if there are any, do not drive the car as the car will probably lost the rest of the water quickly when you are driving and overheat.

if you cannot see any obvious leaks, you should be ok to drive as long as the light does not come on again.

Audi A6 2000 a red warning light and noise comes on when I start the car. It looks like a thermometer with waves under it, what does that mean?

A thermometer with waves under it indicates a possible temperature problem, like high temperature.
But, if it does it when just starting the car, when cold, then the CTS or coolant temperature sensor (or circuit.. wiring) may be sending a faulty signal or a false high temperature.

My low coolant light keeps coming on after about 30 miles. When I check the coolant it is not low.

My 2000 Sable has a brief cold start rough idle that is worse in damp or cold weather. All plugs have been replaced. Ignition coils replaced and or verified operational, new throttle body and new throttle body sensor. It is the number six cylinder according to the onboard diagnostics yet it has been triple checked for issues. Any clue?

2003 TT Air Bag & Seat Belt warning lights not eluminating

It is fairly complicated to remove the instrument panel to replace the light bulb. It requires you to remove the steering wheel and airbag module and several other components.

The sound you hear may be the coolant pump for the turbo.

My dangerously low coolant comes on if I start it in cold weather and drive off. If I let it warm up for about 5 minutes the light doesn't come on. Do I need to put more antifreeze in it? I have a 2000 TT...

Sounds like you are a little low and when the flow/ thermostat opens and the fluid is circulating you are okay. Also check to see if it is not a faulty switch/float inside the expansion tank or overflow bottle.

Oil light comes on in hot weather

Changing the computer doesn't sound right. Most likely a bad oil temp sensor. Make sure you are using the recommended weight (synthetic) oil.
