No noise before valve cover gaskets were changed. still cranks but noise is so loud sounds like something is gonna break. if something was dropped down in there where would it go? what should i do to get it out? had a shop look at it and they said it sounded like something was down in it but where?
I would have a mechanic friend (if you have one) remove the valve covers for inspection and make a video of the disassembly. This will give you evidence of the shops negligence. If nothing is present on top of either cylinder head, the oil pan may have to be pulled for further inspection. Look at the valve covers and make sure all of the bolts are installed. The shop could have dropped a bolt in the valvetrain area.If small enough, it could fall through a oil drain hole in the head.If you dont have a mechanic friend who can work on it,but you know someone who is knowledgeable about engines,I would take that person with you to the shop who done the work and demand they find out whats wrong,on their dime.Make sure your friend is there and demand that he be allowed to watch the disassembly process. If the shop denies they done anything wrong, you might have to get a different shop to inspect the engine, but I would get video evidence so theres no dispute theyre at fault. It would be nice if you could make a quick video and upload it to YouTube,so we can listen to the noise its making.
I guess I would start by taking the valve covers back off. Whoever replaced the gaskets should be responsible.
SOURCE: how to change a fuel pump on a 2001 lincoln ls v8,
Remove driveshaft, them fuel tank. You have two pumps in tank
SOURCE: how difficult is it to replace coolant resesvoir
Typically reservoirs have a few bolts on the top and /or sides and a push in mount on the bottom and a hose going from the bottom to the Radiator as well as an overflow hose on the top. Remove those bolts and pull up on the tank before you take off the bottom hose. Now have the new tank close while you remove the bottom hose, then quickly put the hose on the new tank. You can also use a pair of vice grips to pinch off the bottom hose so you don't lose too much coolant. I suggest you put a pan under the vehicle to catch the coolant that leaks out. Reverse procedure to re-install tank, making sure you get that push mount shaft into the right hole so the bolts will line up.
