Hi there:

The bus is the network the computers use to talk to each other. When it comes up in the mileage display this means that the network has shut down. You may have damaged wiring, a shorted cam or crank sensor, or you got a defective PCM.

Sometimes, the problem you are having is with a bad computer. Most likely this is being caused by a bad engine computer and will need to replace in order to solve this issue. The PCM is located in the engine compartment next to the air cleaner assembly.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

SOURCE: 2000 jeep grand cherokee gauge cluster is working

If it's just the Temp/ Fuel gauge,,, my money is on the instrument voltage regulator. (it governs the voltage to these gauges regardless of the incline (up/down for the fuel gauge) or the battery voltage 12.5 - 13.8 . Other than these it may be an earth connection problen (long shot) because the instrument panel relies on many many signal imputs. !

SOURCE: 2001 jeep cherokee cranks, no start, no bus

I just had the same problem of my 2001 jeep cherokee not starting with no gauges responding and a "no bus" reading. After reading the responses I changed out the CPS and my jeep now runs great! however, it was not as hard as I thought it would be. Very easy with 7/16 bit and a 10inch extender. In and out in less than 5 minutes. Finding it was the hardest part. Blends in with the bell housing. I did this from under the jeep with a good shop light. I paid about $80 for the part here in Atlanta, GA

04 jeep grand cherokee won't start just drags,

Could be a failing starter or problems with the cables.
A dead cell in the battery will do it too.

2000 jeep wrangler wont start

If it won't crank, check clutch safety switch and cables for the starter.
If it cranks but won't start, you'll need to find out if it is ignition or fuel to know where to look next.
