I have an X-type 2.0L diesel 2004 model 55k miles.. The car has a full service history and has been always driven caerfully. I have noticed what I consider excessive grey smoke each time I start from cold. This smoke diappears completely when engine is warm. What could be the problem? As usual dealer is not helpful - only interested in selling me a new vehicle. C'mon you bright Jag engine mechanics>>>>!
According to Jaguar, the engine has a heater fitted inside the engine which automaticly switches on when you start the engine and switches of at a pre-determaned time, this expells steam from underneath the car, and considered as normal.
Therf are other answers in the Jaguar forum, take a look there. I have the same effect with my X-Type.
