The ignition key for my 2002 Chrysler Town & Country won't turn. At first we could slide the key(s) in and out and it would turn. I moved it out of my garage today and it sat for the remaining of the day. I tried to start it in the afternoon and neither if the keys I have worked. I tried spraying WD-40 into the ignition switch to maybe clean out any metal in the tumblers and tried both keys again and still the same. I guess I can see if the dealership can cut me a new key and try that route. I don't know if the cold weather is playing a factor in the ignition problem. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. Thank you
Is the steering wheel locked hard over to one side? On some vehicles it is just about impossible to turn the key with the wheel locked hard over. If it is, take some pressure off the steering whell lock by turning the wheel in the locked direction and try to turn the key.
I experienced the same issue. Cold weather, along with wet air or humidity appears to possibly play a part in the aformentioned matter. Insert the key into the ignition and tap lightly on said key with the palm of your hand, several times. The issue appears to damaged or worn out ignition tumbler. Good luck!
