5.3 L Yukon XL oil pressure problems

The oil pressure goes down at altitude so I put Sea Foam in, ran it 1 hr and changed the oil and the pressure went up dramatically and was fine for our 600 mile drive yesterday. This morning I started the car in cold conditions(24 degrees f) and now I have 0 oil pressure. What should I do?

I read that the 0 ring being cut can cause air to get introduced and I also read that water can get introduced around the intake manifold as coolant runs through it.

Please advise.

Thanks.

Well first the GM oil pressure sending units are notorious for false readings, so what you must do is remove the oil pressure sending unit and plug in a test mechanical gage to verify the engine has acceptable oil pressure, after you are certain the pressure is ok replace the sending unit, it requires a special socket to remove it, the socket is about $5.00 USD. There is a deep socket and a shallow, so check the sending unit for the correct socket fit.

SOURCE: OIL PRESSURE LIGHT COMES ON AND PRESSURE GOES TO 0 ON GAUGE

Any time the oil pressure is 0 you take a chance of locking up the motor. The only way to know for sure is to put a pressure gauge in the oil pressure sending unit port on the engine and see what the pressure really is. At that point you will either have the peace of mind in the knowledge that the sending unit is really bad and needs replacement or you can then contact a repair shop and tell them what your testing has revealed. I wouldn't drive or run your truck while the oil pressure is at zero.

Good luck

SOURCE: 03 gmc envoy with 5.3 140000 miles. Oil pressure

There may be a loose wire or the gauge or sending unit may be going bad. The first thing I would do is to hook up a temporary oil pressure gauge, not using the old one at all. With this watch gauge while driving and see what readings you get. If the readings still jump around you have a pump that is getting weak and failing, If that is the case the pump should be replaced, but with high milage you may consider rebuilding the entire engine. If the readings stay normal start checking for a loose wire at gauge or sender. Then check sender, then gauge and replace as needed.

Hi, you may have a torn fuel pressure regulator diaphram. The diaphram is behind a square cover on the side of the throttle body, that is held in by 4 screws. Take the diaphram out and check it for tears. If no tears, put it back the way you took it out and check your injectors. Can you see them squirting as you pull the throttle? Is the squirt the same for both? Is it a regular pattern or distorted? If you see issues there, you can take them out and try to clean them. If that doesn't work, replace an injector that has a poor or irregular flow pattern. Please let me know if you have any questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

Got a 2000 gmc Yukon xl starts then dies got a new crank sensor and a cam sensor in it fuel pressur is 57 pounds oil is good

About the only way to fix it is to go buy a Dodge/RAM. You can take it to a dealer and try to get some kind of trade in value out of it. It being unc they'll probably only give you scrap metal prices for it ,if that. No need to thank me now. Knowing that hopefully you've seen the error in your ways is thanks enough for me. PEACE!!!!

I would add a little Sea Foam product to oil and if you have 1/2 tank of fuel, add 1/2 can of Sea Foam to gas.
If your gas is old the Sea Foam should help.

What's your problem? 2000 Yukon XL Yukon died while driving down the highway like it ran out of fuel. Had 1/4 tank. No fuel pressure.

You'll need to check the circuit from the fuel pump relay back to the pump. The computer grounds the relay.
If the pump is running the filter could be clogged.

1988 ford e150 starts but misses and when gas pedel pressed stalls

you need to open up the throttle body and clean out the jets. if been stud for awhile you get a fuel build up as it evaporates, turns into like a dust this blocks the jets. as it gets sticky from new fuel. every time you drop the fuel pressure you are making it sick back down. then driving you are pulling it back up.

Yes, most likely it is a defective oil pressure sending unit. However, oil pressure is something you do not want to take chances with. Have it checked with a manual gauge to determine the problem as soon as possible to avoid possible major engine failure. I hope this helps.

I want to SeaFoam my 2000 Chevy Silverado, How much SeaFoam goes in the gas tank and ind the brake hose or oil tank?

I have been using sea foam for years. A little goes a long way. I usually use a couple of cap fulls at fill up. The same goes for the oil when changing it. I don't use sea foam for the brake system. Only DOT3 brake fluid from a sealed container unless otherwise specified.

Ticking in the motor

Sounds like you have a lifter that is sticking. Purchase a can of Seafoam Motor Treatment at Advance Auto Parts, Walmart, and many other suppliers. I have used this product many times and it is fantastic. This is not a motor treatment such as some of the others you see advertised to improve mileage or stop oil burning. This is a legit product that many mechanics trust. To clean lifters, add 1½ oz. Sea Foam to each quart of oil. Sea Foam will slowly re-liquefy the old oil varnish residue that builds up on lifters and prevents them from functioning normally. This process can be done as part of a pre service cleaning by adding the Sea Foam to the oil at least 30 miles before the next oil change interval. OR it can be done as a preventative maintenance process without changing the oil. You can leave Sea Foam in the oil indefinitely as long as the oil is clean. The addition of a high-detergent oil like Sea Foam may cause the oil to become dirty faster than normal as buildup oil residue and contamination are cleaned. Check the oil at regular intervals and when it gets dirty, change it. http://www.seafoamsales.com/how-to-use-sea-foam-motor-treatment.html

If the car ran good before you put that sea foam in the tank, there's your problem. I haven't heard one good report about that junk, some swear by it, I've always used that techron injection cleaner, and never had any complaints.
