1996 Dodge Grand Caravan SE Instrument Cluster nothing works.

Other problems include windshield washer -doesn't work, windshioeld wipers-work but only two speedes no intermitent operation-also may work when window up/dn switch is operated if so then must kill ignition swith to stop them-they do not return to rest position stop where they are, air conditioner clutch swith does not activate. I have checked fuses and relays under the hood and the fuses under the dash, not relays as yet. I believe the problem may be the BCM, but not sure everything I stated receives it's start-stop-operation commands from the BCM.

I have not had an opportunity to try any suggestions as yet. Spent 2 days preparing for the remnants of Isaac to arrive in our area-SE Iowa.

SOURCE: Need to know which relay fuse (under hood) belongs

the relay box is on the driver side, next to the battery. remove cover to find fuses and relay. it's on the bottom right if you look at it from the driver side fender. in the cap, you should find the diagram of the location of every fuse/relay located in there.

SOURCE: dodge caravan 1996 During cold weather wiper malfunction

Hi

Sounds to me like the "parking" contacts inside the wiper motor have broken off / worn.
Needs to remove wiper moter / dismantle to inspect. (On some models you can purchase these contacts.)

SOURCE: 1999 dodge caravan intermittent instrument cluster

This Seems Indicative Of a Poor Connection AT The CLUSTER Or A Junction Connecter Close to the Cluster. This is Assuming you Have Ruled OUT ALL ABS COMPONENTS, LOOK at These VERY CLOSLY Because of the Small Volts These Wires Carry , the SMALLEST DEFECT WILL Cause this Type of Symptom that you have given. Please try all of the Above, I feel Confedint that athis is where your Problem Is.

SOURCE: 2000 Caravan 3.0L. No odometer

The common cause of this problem is the Park Neutral switch, also called the range switch, it is on the side of the transmission. It mounts externally on the transmission on the front or driver's side of the transmission. Most have a three wire connector that plugs in to it and you can take them out with a socket or large wrench.

Also the instrument cluster needs to be inspected.---------The soldering on the instrument cluster board gets short and causes this problems.------- Also the HVAC control, connectors on the cluster board needs to be inspected.-----
------

The PCM on this vehicle uses inputs from 3 different switches/ sensor for this:

(1) Transmission range switch, located on the outside of the transmission, just above the transmission pan, white in color

(2) Park/ Neutral position switch , also located on the outside of the transmission case, above the pan, near the transmission range switch; black in color

(3) Transmission range switch/ sensor, located inside of the transmission.

---------

This will help.Thanks.helpmech.

All the gauges in the car does not work including the digital odometer, but the dash lights work along with everything else on the van. wat is the problem?

It is likely that it's the main wire connector pins on the instrument cluster circuit board. By re-flowing the solder on the 13 pins, you will probably resolve the problems. This is even more likely to be the problem if there has been erratic dash board, gauge, idiot light behaviour. Let me know if you need instructions on how to remove the instrument cluster to re-solder the 13 pins. It actually doesn't take too long.

1996 dodge grand caravan windshield wiper motor is running but the wipers will not move do you have any idea of what the problem is and a way to fix it??

the linkage could have come off the motor itself there is a locking clip that sometimes breaks and allows the linkage to come off.you would have to remove the under hood cover to gain access to the motor along with the removing the wiper arms to remove the assembly so you can work on it there is the washer hose that will have to be removed also.

The car gauges for the odometer, gas and temperature are not working, also when i put the directional signals some times they work some times they don't. Usually they don't work in mornings. other thing...

The brake light is a separate issue and is either a bad brake light switch or the switch is out of adjustment. The instrument cluster is a known problem and can be a broken solder joint or a bad ground connection inside the negative battery terminal. Do a search for caravan instrument cluster and you'll find lots of info

Front wipers stopped working but you can hear the motor run also

If the wipers were buried under snow/ice or frozen to the windshield, you may have blown the red 10 amp fuse located in cavity 9 in the fuse block located on the bottom left side of the instrument panel near the parking brake pedal.
In order of easiest to check:
1) ensure wipers not frozen to windshield.
2) ensure wiper arms are not loose on the pivot stud,
3) check the red 10 amp fuse.
You stated that "you can hear the motor". Which motor do you hear? The engine or the wiper motor?
If you hear the wiper motor, then the fuse is alright. Try 1) and 2) above.
