SOURCE: the tensioner won't release on my jeep

The tensioner has a preload spring so there is no release to it just a healthy kick back. If no tesion is felt what so ever, replace to tensioner as well

SOURCE: where do release the tension

there should be a tensioner pulley located along the belt that can be tightened/loosened to adjust the timing. usually these tensioner pulleys have a square slot on them so you can put a 1/2 or 3/4 inch drive ratchet in the slot to pull for pressure. typically they are smaller pulleys 2.5-5 inches in diameter.

Rotate the tensioner again and put the belt over the alternator pulley. Release the tensioner and verify the belt is properly engaging all pulleys.

How do i replace the alternator on a 2000 tundra 4.7L 4x2 non serpentine configuration

I presume the serpentine belt is in the way. First, disconnect the battery terminal. Then make sure the serpentine belt diagram is readable and remove the serpentine belt. Then release the tension on the alternator belt and remove all the bolts and wiring.

Need 1993 plymouth voyager serpentine belt diagram

Which engine?
To replace the drive belt or serpentine belt on a Voyager check the engine size. For 2.4L engines, a serpentine belt runs the air conditioning compressor and alternator. For 3.0L models, the alternator and power steering share a belt with a separate belt for the AC. Dodge recommends checking the belts every 15,000 miles or 12 months for possible replacement. I have gone 3 yrs with one.. it will start squealing when you turn on the heater to defrost..

Most replacement belts have a diagram on the package. However, the easiest way is to pay close attention to the belt you are taking off, and replace the new one the same way. The pulleys themselves are usually 'grooved' or 'smooth' which tells you whether the front or back of the belt is against it. The hardest part is figuring out how to release tension on the idler-pulley. If you can get the belt on and the idler/tension pulley (same thing) pulls the belt tight, chances are you got the belt right. If you don't know what I mean, then the mostest best way is to get a Clymer Manual and read up. Its really a simple thing to do yourself.

I used a long heavy duty screw driver to release the tension on a Pontiac Sunbird.. the belt will only fit on one way..

How to replace the serpentine belt on the 1992 oldsmobile achieva

Pry the tensioner with appropiate tool, then pull the belt off the alternator pulley before releasing the tensioner. Note the routing of belt before doing this job. Make sure the new belt is same length before putting back on, reverse the procedure.

Releasing tension on belt to remove alternator. 95 chevy 1500

assuming it has a serpentine belt, you need to pry on the tension pulley to release the tension on the alt. A jack handle works good for this.....or a large screwdriver....
