Turn on ignition key sometimes starts and runs for seconds then turns off. sometimes i get nothing when i turn on key
Hello
The engine
and automatic transmission in this vehicles drive train
are fully electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM and
TCM (Power Train Control Module, Transmission Control Module). When a
problem like this or other drive-ability related problems occurs the
computer stores a record of the problem (there are of course some
exceptions to this, like the fuel pump, engine coolant temperature
sensor and MAF sensor for instance) in the form of a fault code in
its memory, to read these fault codes you must have the systems
memory scanned with a special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read
you then must perform the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and
resolve the problem(s) DO NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS UNTIL
A TRAINED TECHNICAIN HAS DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO AVOID SPENDING YOUR
HARD EARNED MONEY ON PARTS THAT MAY NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM

The lock cylinder in the steering column has to be changed. I have see these wear out.
To avoid having a new key combination for the ignition, when you go to the dealer and order new part, tell them that you want to have it in the same combination code as the original. You will have to loan them a copy of the key to have this done.
The last step is you will need someone who knows how to change the cylinder in the steering column. In many models of cars, this is an involved job.

Your starter sylinoid is most likely toast. Unfortunately most of the time you need to replace the entire starter nowadays to remedy this situation.
Replace your starter, or you may have corrosion on your battery cables.

first thing you got to do is determen weather its electrical or fuel problem, you can take a test light and hook to a ground and the light end to a spark plug and see if it lights while someone turns over engine, if it lights you got spark. if its got spark, on to fuel, take fuel pressure test, don't think because you can hear pump working does not mean it is, it can sound like it is but its not, at least putting out enought pressure, not the correct amount it will not run. pumps will go out just that way with no warning at all.

Try changing your fuel filter and checking your fuel pressure. Can always try runiing injecter cleaner after new fuel filter put in. Good luck
