Hello
The engine and automatic transmission in this vehicles drive train are fully electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM (Power Train Control Module). Whenever a problem like this occurs the computer stores a record of the problem (there are of course some exceptions to this, like the fuel pump, engine coolant temperature sensor and MAF sensor for instance) in the form of a fault code in its memory, to read these fault codes you must have the systems memory scanned with a special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read you then must perform the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and resolve the problem(s) DO NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS UNTIL A TRAINED TECHNICAIN HAS DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO AVOID SPENDING YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON PARTS THAT MAY NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM

SOURCE: 1997 dodge ram 3500, it shudders in OD

Hey, I also have a 98 ram with the cummins and what you are talking about is when you are pullin hard in overdrive the trans is working to hard causing the shudder, when this happens back off the throttle and get back on the throttle to allow the trans to downshift. If you dont it will break the overdrive gear. There is nothing wrong with the trans it is just that it is shifting to early and bogging down causing the shudder.

SOURCE: Engine dying while running full speed and

This is an electrical problem, I had this last winter where the car was restarting or the starter was not disengaging. The problem was with the starter. the contacts that meet the plunger in the starter were grooved severely and binded with the contacts.
I had to replace the contacts inside the starter.

SOURCE: fuel delivery error 0148 losing

P0148 Fuel Delivery Error, this can be a clogged fuel filter or a weak fuel pump, now if you happen to have a diesel it could be the lift pump a dealer would replace that along with a Fuel Control Actuator to clear the code

Have a 4 cyl. engine. sometimes will not idle high enough to keep running.

I suggest you clean the upper intake using the instructions below.
To correct this problem Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner (it is made by CRC) from the local auto parts store, NEVER USE CARB CLEANING SPRAY, IT DESTROYS THE ANTI-STICK TEFLON COATING, spray it into the air intake through the throttle body of the engine until you have used about half the can, you will need to hold the idle up while you do this, it will try to stall, after this shut the engine down and disconnect the Negative (-) battery cable for 5 minutes. The intake is now clean, if you continue to have the idle speed control problems you may need to seek the help of a professional.

1994 Buick Skylark, 138,000 mi.,V-6, auto trans. Car won't engage in gear until engine is warm. Engine must run 4-8 minutes until shifting successfully. Shift lever can be moved to all gears, but...

one thing ive warned my friends to never do and that is to never have your trans flushed cause you may have new fluids but what about the trans filter its old and iots there for that reason to keep dirt and metal; shavings from the bands so try having your oil and filter in the transmission replaced , pull your trans dip stick and on a white piece of paper put a drop of trans oil that you have in your trans at that very moment it should be redish pink but if its brown and smells really bad then the problem is in the oil and filter . change it before u have to replace the whole trans

Not starting

I had a similar problem ... It was my Low Idle needed adjusting. Hard time starting and would just die when I let off the pedal. The vibration form the motor wears down the flat bar that pushes to increase the idle speed. I know it sounds simple but it ran me around for a couple weeks. Old School Dodge Mechanic didnt even charge me to set it.

With your Auto Trans in gear and AC on you should be at 750-800 RPM.

Grab a manual like Haynes it shows you how in there and they are handy to have around.

Hope this helps and good luck.
