My 2002 Chevy blazer has same problem with the dome/interior lights staying on NO MATTER WHAT I do!! Even with the override switch off, the lights won't come on when I open doors, the other times (with override STIIL OFF..) I will be driving and the interiors will come on for NO reason, and I cannot get anything to over ride it EXEPT take the fuse out! The floor lights stay on, along with the domes, the rear (backseat)lights, and the back back by the hatch!! And it's very random, and sporadic ! My stepfather owned car for 8yrs and it's never happened to him, I had it literally 3 DAYS, and it started happening! Any ideas?
One or more of the door switches are malfunctioning
That's what we were thinking...I also wanna mention, since I see some people are saying the battery will eventually shut everything down after 20 min. That's supposed to happen, and NOPE, that doesn't do it neither!! My lights have stayed on for 5 hrs straight from time I got home, till time I went bk out tommy car later that day, so it even overrides the battery saver!!! But thank you , we will check that out
I also can say for sure that it has nothing to do with my dome switches, we fussed with ALL of it!

the part of the door the switch hit my be worn down and you may need some type of spacer if it will go off when you push the switch all the way down

some times the door switch can be faulty. and it may be coincidence that the interior switch is faulty too. i have owned alot of S- series trucks and a few of them have done this to me. you need to individually check each door for switch contact

Sounds like the dome light has been turned on using the switch on the dash. Most of the time the dash dimmer switch is set up so that if the dimmer is in the maximum position, the dome light can be turned on. If the dome light has been turned on like this, it still will turn off after some time to save your battery. Then when you unlock the door with the remote, it goes back to the same state it was when it was left in - "ON". Check for this switch on the dash, and roll it to get it off of the "ON" position.

on your interior light switch (dimmer switch) just get in the vehicle close doors and turn the dimmer switch and that should do it

SOURCE: dome lights won't turn off
Been having a problem with the dome lights on a 99 chevy blazer. Still can't figure out what the problem is. There is a dome light overide button located under the dimmer wheel. When I push the overide button in the dome light goes off, but when I open any of the doors the dome light will not come on. When the overide button is out the dome light stays on all the time and will not turn off even though every door is closed. I checked all the pushbuttons and everything tests good. Has anyone had this problem and know how to fix it?
