First check fuses, then if your battery cables are conected and not cut, if anything else do as all the old timers say hit it and see if it works or new school like us take it to get tested for free at ANY major auto parts store

05 300 no power to starter

It can be faulty starter or there is loose connection from battery to starter. The starter assembly gets power from battery.Check voltages at starter wires and see if you are getting 12 volts or not.If not then its no power issue due to low battery volt or no connection between battery to starter.

Get no power when turning the ignition key on 1987 monte carlo after replacing starter

The battery power is routed through the starter on your car. If your starter connections are wrong or you blew a fuselink while changing the starter, you will get no power at the ignition switch. Double check your starter connections and test also for a blown fuselink.

Starter continues to run even with the key off

You need to test the trigger wire on the starter to see if it is still getting power when the key is off, and the starter is cranking. The trigger wire is the small terminal on the starter that gets power with the key in the crank position. If the trigger wire has power with the key off the problem is in the electrical system, probably the ignition switch. If the trigger wire doesn't have power and the starter continues to crank, with the key off, the problem will be inside the starter.

I replaced the starter solenoid but it will still not start what is your suggestion

First test for power at starter,if your getting power to starter then starter is bad, also check the batt cable going to starter at starter for corrsion at terminal,if that cable has power and the small wire gets power when key in the crank spot then starter is no good,

My car will not start and I bought a brand new battery today and installed it. However the car still will not even fire up at all, but the power in the car still works. What could cause this?

Sounds to me like you need the starter tested or replaced,if you are not getting even a click then the starter needs a set of brushes,if all you get is a click then you need a starter solenoid, either way the starter needs to come off.

Starter problem- How do I check to see if the starter needs replaced?

check to see if your getting power from the battery to the starter and check the ignition signal wire while some one turns the key if your getting power there and the starter don't engage then the starter needs to be replaced also while someone trys to start it tap on the starter and see if you get a response but if your getting power to it and it don't work it's bad

Car wont start, no clicks no sound

make sure you have power getting to your starter when you crank. check the small nut on the starter. should have 12 v or very close to it. this will tell you if your getting power to the starter or if somethign before the starter and something maybe with your anti theft system or not. its hard to say online cause of that anti theft. doest the light flash at all? the anti theft light?

if your getting power to the starter when you crank make sure your getting good power to the starter by turning on the head lights and see if they dim. a good starter will cause the headlites to dim when attempting to start. if nothing dims check connections. or assume bad starter motor. make sure your also getting power to the main starter stud as well.

good luck
