my nissan altima 2002 wont start the battery is brand new and code P-1612 was found out what does the code mean

P1610=Lock Mode--1 turn ignition switch OFF 2 turn ignition switch ON with registered key. (Do not start engine.) Wait 5 seconds. 3 Return the key to off position. 4 Repeat steps 2 and 3 twice ( total of tree cycles). 5 Start the engine. Does engine start ?? Yes...System is OK. Now system is escaped from LOCK MODE...if no start...Go to 3
P1612 is a lot of testing.......get back to me....

This seems to be a security issue. Do you have any other TRANSPONDER on the key ring ? If so remove them.Also try another key.

Hi,
It sounds to me like you just have a bad ignition key. This is very
common! Try another ignition key and see if that does the trick.The P0325 won't even turn the light on and is not really a major problem.
Have you checked the fuses? Sometimes a blown or popped fuse will do this..
If there is no blown fuses, then chances are you could just have a bad immobilizer. You are going
to want to check the powers and grounds going into the immobilizer. If
the powers and grounds are good, then the NATS IMMU may be faulty.it is located in the steering column.
