Steps to replace the ecm. do I need to unhook the battery, or anything. After it is replaced, is there any other steps like resetting anything?

Replacing and ECM is a farily involved job which will require reprogramming the replacement ECM to match the vehicle that it is installed in. Dealerships and a few independent service facilities are set up to do the reprogramming but the unprogrammed ECM may not even be able to start the vehicle until programmed so it's not a DIY kind of project. It's RARE that a vehicle needs the ECM replaced as there are a quite a few problems that can mimic a bad ECM and often an ECM problem can be fixed with a reflash update of the software. Hope this helps and good luck!

If I replaced the PCM on the 2005 dodge ram truck would I have to reprogram the keys to make the truck run?

If you key has a chip in it, you will probably have to get your ECM reprogrammed with the proper VIN, since it no longer matches the original VIN on your Vehicle. I don't think the dealer would program your keys to a mismatched VIN number, so more than likely you will need your ECM reprogrammed with the proper VIN. This will need to be taken to the Dodge Dealership to be fixed.

1998 catera has no heat on driver side but has heat on pass

The first issue is to reprogram the blend doors for the HVAC system. You can do this yourself by pressing on the Off/On button and the drivers side temperature control knob at the same time for five seconds. Then release the buttons and you should hear the doors moving as the system reprograms itself. Good Luck.

Where is the TCM located on a 1998 Catera? PLEASE HELP!! Thanks Kim

Tcm is located beside the battery under a triangle shaped cover it's about 6"x8", silver colored. slides up and out. I had to buy a used one off ebay and had a GM dealer reprogram it. Bad thing is there hard to come by used. They have to have the exact same manufacture number. $100.00 to reprogram it. I shorted my tcm out trying to give some body a jump start, Jumper cable popped off and shorted across metal on the tcm and positive on the battery.
