TRANSMISSION FLUID

Checking automatic transmission fluid

The 5R55N transmission does not have a transmission fluid dipstick.

Refer to your scheduled maintenance guide for scheduled intervals for

fluid checks and changes. Your transmission does not consume fluid.

However, the fluid level should be checked if the transmission is not

working properly, i.e., if the transmission slips or shifts slowly or if you

notice some sign of fluid leakage.

Transmission fluid should be checked and, if required, fluid
should be added by a qualified technician.

SOURCE: adding transmission fluid to my 2001 Lincoln LS

Have the car on, in park, emergency brake on. Under the hood, red dip stick. From line to line should be 1qt. This is best done when the cars warm. Add until the 2nd line. Get in your car, hold the brake, slowly put it in reverse, neutral, drive, 3,2,1 then 2,3, drive, neutral, reverse, park. Repeat a couple times to move the oil around, and you're good to go.

Where do I add transmission fluid for 2006 mercury sable with over 175k mile only driving in city traffic Houston work and home.

You add transmission fluid through the dipstick tube. If memory serves me right and that is the 3.0 L motor, tube is on the left side at the firewall. Dipstick should have a "yellow" grip on it. Check the fluid level prior to adding fluid for adding too much fluid can do damage to transmission. You check fluid with engine running. Fluid should be within the "crosshatch" markings on the stick for proper level. You will need a long transmission funnel in order to get it in the small hole for that is the only one for adding fluid :o) Hope this gives you a helping hand in the task. Where do I put in transmission fluid on aBuick Rainier 2004 someone told my wife not put it down the dipstick?

Buick has been developed sophisticated transmissions through years and it is critical that you add the exact type of transmission fluid stipulated by your owner's manual (typically in the back of the manual in a section titled Fluid Capacities.) When adding transmission fluid to your Rainier, be sure to add it slowly as the transmission fluid capacity is reached quickly and it is difficult to remove excess fluid if you overfill. You can add fluid through the dipstick tube! Hope this helps. May god bless!

Where do you check the transmission level on a 1995 Polaris 425 Magnum. How do you add fluid?

on any vehicle with an automatic transmission, there are two dip sticks. One to measure oil level, and the other transmission fluid level( typically labled 'check with engine running in park'). To add transmission fluid requires a funnel to introduce fluid via the dip-stick tube.

If you have a manual transmission, then you don't need transmission fluid, you need gear oil, which can be measured at the transmission and added at the same port.

Transmission fluid is added through the dipstick tube. You will need a long skinny transmission funnel to not make a mess.

Two litres? Unless you are outside the USA, transmission fluid generally comes in quart containers. If you only added 2 quarts, yes, it's very possible the fluid level is low. However, you don't want to add too much. There should be a dip stick for checking fluid level. Run the vehicle until the engine is good a warm, about 15-20 minutes, and then check the fluid level. Add as needed. But remember, don't add too much. Add a little at a time, as you get close to full.

Adding transmission fluid

Add transmission fluid to the same tube you check the transmission fluid level. It will resemble the oil dipstick tube, only it's a larger tube that will accommodate a funnel to add additional fluid. It's important not to overfill the recommended level so try adding 1/2 quart at a time until the level is withing the markings on the transmission fluid dipstick.

Where do you put the transmission fluid on a 2008 Kia Spectra?

Locate the transmission dipstick. To add transmission fluid, simply remove the dipstick and insert a funnel in tube, then slowly add fluid. Do not overfill, as this will cause the transmission to slip and possibly cause damage.

!995 jeep gr cherk. transmission fluid. add hot

Its best to add while all is hot..
Leave it runing in park while adding fluid..
Put a little at a time and keep checking being careful not to over fill..
The dipstick mesures in pints - not quarts..

Rate well ;o)
