When motor is up to normal running temperature the motor has this skip (surge) and when you are driving and let completely off the gas motor wants to surge. also, when motor is hot and you put into reverse, it sometimes the rpm will drop and motor will shut off.

sticking torque converter lockup solenoid will cause this problem.

There is a white plug that goes into the top of the transaxile, (open hood, look on the right hand side down low, you see a plug with two wires on it, pull this plug out. The engine will run fine after this with no problems, something to do with tork lockup for fuel saving at slow speed, below 35km/hr It locks the transmission at the same speed as the engine for fuel savings. I owned a 1990 lumina apv and ran it with this unpluged for over 10 years. or you can take the cover off the transmission, take off drivers side tire, remove cover on transaxiles, the part in question here is a small solonoid that is very easy to remove and replace if you want but not necesary to do so,

how many lbs of fuel pressure should i have? i will check this and ive already checked for vacum leaks and didnt find any. also, there are no codes in the computer if this was a bad tps or iac valve or converter solenoid wouldnt a code be produced?
